My Psycho Ex-girlfrend

My ex-girlfriend was a psycho. I often stared at her with a lingering gaze, thanking the universe for blessing me with such a partner until the worst happened.

"Mehn, you're so lucky to be with Casey. She's such a good girl I envy you," Cole,my best friend would say anytime I came over.

"I wish my girlfriend would be half as attentive as Casey," he would continue and then walk over to the fridge and pull out two cans of beer.

Then, can after can of beer will lay littered on the floor till his slurred speech and head hanging low would give way to a lonely sleep.

His girlfriend paid more attention to her dog than him.

Casey was different. She remembered everything that came out of my mouth , even the tiniest shred of detail did not escape her..... neither did I

One day,I came back from work and slumped on the chair, exhaling sharply as I rubbed my throbbing temples.

Casey came in and took over, almost immediately.

"You look like shit," she joked

"Yeah, your shit," I replied, with a hoarse voice that was slightly seductive.

I pulled her to sit on my legs, holding her tightly to my firm chest.

She stood up quickly, making me furrow my brows in confusion.

"Who were with today?" She questioned sharply, her voice raising by a few decibels.

"I was at work, what do you mean?" I asked

"Still playing dumb huh?"

"C'mon Casey. I don't get,"

"Which bit.... Don't swear Case,No swearing," I watched as she muttered, trying to calm herself down

I watched silently, ruffling my hair and pulling mildly in frustration.

"Whose perfume are you reeking of," she asked

"I...I..." I started, unsure of how to proceed

"You what?

Tell me,are you seeing another bitch.

Are you fu.cking cheating on me with a cheap bi.tch," she screamed hysterically.

"No Casey,I would never. I love you,"I said,my heart racing.

"Julie just lost her husband and I had to console her . It was just a light hug. I'd never cheat on you and you know it,"

"I don't know any damn thing," she yelled

"She just lost her husband and ran into the hands of another man, huh?" She scoffed, her eyes full of contempt.

At this point, I thought she was overreacting, especially since Julie really just lost her husband.

" Casey, it's not what you think,"

"Oh,then tell me what to think," she sneered but her eyes were burning with rage.

That was how she was. Overly possessive and I used to find it cute until now when her gaze sent shivers down my spine.

"You know what, I'm not gonna do this with you. Not today," I said, taking my jacket from the arm of my chair,my temples throbbing heavily.

"Now you're looking for an excuse to go see your little mistress aren't you," she said. I ignored her and headed straight for the door.

"CHRISTOPHER," I turned and my pupils dilated in fear.I felt my heart jump out of my throat as the heavy object on her hand had contact with my head heavily.

At that moment, I saw my whole life in front of me as despair washed over me

What about my job, parents and friends

I felt a sticky liquid dripping out of my head and each drop felt like the end of my life. Two drops of hot tears slid down my eyes and my eyelids became heavier and heavier till I could no longer keep them open.

I woke up groggily to the intense sunlight in the room, making my eyes burn.

My head felt like it could split open any minute and I broke out in cold sweat.

"You're awake," someone said behind me. It was Cole.

"What happened?
Where's Casey?" I asked tentatively

"You mean Linda Bullocks," he replied

"What..what?" I asked,my heart racing wildly.

Everyone in the city knew Linda, blonde and arrogant, who suddenly disappeared after killing her boyfriend.

"Lin..Linda. Casey is Linda," I asked, stuttering.

I couldn't believe it. We've been living together for over eight months now.

"Yes and you my lucky bro could have been the next Jason," Cole said, not mincing words at all.

"Where's she now?" I sti wanted to know, fearing he would say she escaped

"She's in the psychiatric hospital. While interrogating her,she didn't seem normal and after some medical examination, she was sent there to recuperate before going to court," he said

I sighed deeply in relief.

After my discharge,I went to the police station to give my statement and resigned from my job. Moving to a far away place.

Sometimes,I wish she was no longer alive because she might snap out of it one day and come after me to finish what she started.
