Snowy Scary Super Bowl Sunday

It Was A Snowy Scary Super Bowl Sunday ..

For all of us here in the BDMiller household. Well.. Maybe just scary for Ms Molly, but there are few days where she's not shaking for one reason or another. We've gotten used to it over the years. It's a sad fact, but the truth.. Molly is afraid of EVERYTHING. Yes, Everything; the wind, rain, snow, OH YES Thunder, birds, cats, other dogs, people, house flies, leaves, shadows, cars, unfamiliar music, dust.. yeah pretty much everything you can think of including herself on occasion.

We've tried everything.. In order to comfort her or draw her attention away from what she thinks is out to get her. Nothing works.. she's just plain old paranoid. I may be over exaggerating a little, but some days this all seems to true. She shakes and pants, claws at our heads, climbs behind our heads, anything to try and escape the trigger.

SOMETHING is happening outside today! So she hopped up to see her daddy..

The snow was beginning to fall, blow, hit the house, and pile up outside.

This time.. It was the blowing snow that triggered her to get excited and worked up. She was fine until a few larger flakes hit the side of the window and made the lightest tapping noise ever. She shakes quite a bit due to her Addison's Disease, but it seems to be magnified when there is a trigger.

No need to worry though, Mom and Dad are here to comfort her.

Molly did end up calming down.. And eventually fell asleep there by my side. I ventured out a bit before the roads got covered with snow. The Jeep needed a little run around anyhow, and it's fun driving it in the snow, although the clean-up in the spring will suck. I think a cup of coffee sounds good right about now, so off I went to fetch some for my wife and I.

It was beautiful out.. If I was a little more ambitious, I would have parked somewhere and taken a few pictures of the beautiful scenery. Instead you all get to see the photo I snapped out of the front and then side window of the Jeep, as I drove to get the coffee. I wish these ugly powerlines were not visible, but if I am too lazy to get out and get cold, then powerlines will have to be part of my photos.

I finally made it to DD.. and didn't expect the line to be as long as it was. I suppose everyone else had the same idea as me. bummer.. I thought I was special. hehe. It was fine though, I just sat it the warmth of the Jeep and watched the flakes gently fall to the ground or melt as the stuck to the glass in front of me.

I made it home in one piece.. coffee, doughnuts, and breakfast sandwiches in hand. We all had a late breakfast as the scary thoughts of the snow melted away from the forefront Molly's mind. Food has a special way of making things right as rain for her.. although that may be a bad analogy.. Molly is scared of the rain. ugggg.. Anyhow, she felt better and forgot about what was happening outside. For a few minutes at least she was happy again.

Later That Night..

We sat down if front of the TV and tuned into the Super Bowl. We weren't rooting for either team, but felt the need to watch the festivities anyhow. Not the worst game in the world, but it wasn't the most exciting one either. Molly found her place next to me on the couch.. a place Pepper would often curl up on cold, snowy nights light tonight. Memories of him have been bouncing around in my head all day, and they made me a bit sad. Maybe Molly was feeling his presence today too, or maybe she was just looking for some comfort from the storm.

Either way, I'll enjoy this moment with her snuggling by my side, because they make me smile.

About Me ~ The Artist

My art work incorporates a wide variety of subject matter, including landscape, seascape, cityscape, and still life images. My works are the product of a continuing process of exploration through which I seek to portray personal and visionary interpretations of my surroundings. My paintings are impressions of places and events from everyday life, an interpretation of my imagination, and personal responses to what I see and feel on a daily basis. More recently I have invested generous amounts of time into my landscape painting. I am surrounded by natural and man made beauty, which inherently presents itself in the tri-state area, and almost demands that I paint it.

Not everything is art. Art is not everything, but it comes close. Art is everywhere and all the time. Art makes you experience the beauty of the world, the people in it, and the places we call home. Art itself is so influential that it can tell stories, show feelings, and express passion or fury. Art exists in addition to language; expression of sensations and thoughts, revealing a way of thinking too subtle and delicate for words.

For me art requires love, honesty and perseverance. In return, it reveals some personal, non-analyzable, and creative untamed passion. For the public, art with its magnificent beauty, improves mood and health and builds better human beings and communities. It engages the intellect, softens the heart, strengthens the soul and frees the spirit.
