In the Belgian North Sea an impressive Innovation is revolutionizing the maintenance of wind farms, imagine this, now maintenance vessels can be tied to an automatic cable to recharge their batteries while doing their work.

This innovative system is the first of its kind and represents a big step in making electric boats even more important, this charging system was implemented at the Nobel Wind wind farm in Belgium in operation since 2017, with its 50 turbines covering a area of 20 square km in the sea, this facility, the third of the Park Wind company, provides energy to nearly 190,000 homes.

The new charging station was shipped 47 km offshore on a crew transfer ship, the modular components were lifted between the wind turbines using the facility's substation crane, once established the system was successfully used to charge one of the company's electric boats, without any interruption in the operation of the EIC park as shown in the video.

The technology for a greener and cleaner future.

The process is fully automated, without the need for crew intervention to connect or disconnect the charging cable, which increases the safety of the system, currently the charging station can provide up to 2 Maga Watts of power to the CTV transfer vessels. crew and up to 8 Maga Watts of energy to the service operation vehicles responsible for maintaining the wind turbines.

Park Wind claims that the system can also operate the electrical systems of conventional vessels idle at sea, reducing their dependence on diesel engines and consequently reducing emissions. The charging module was developed by Park Wind's partner, MJR, an engineering company. of offshore energy and automation systems based in the kingdom.

MJR is now analyzing the results of the implementation at Nobel Wind and using that data to develop the world's first commercial offshore charging station scheduled to launch in early 2025, this innovation is a giant step for the sustainability and efficiency of operations in wind farms, highlighting the human capacity to transform technology for a greener and cleaner future.
