I Got Into a Bike Accident, a Flu, and a Canceled Meeting

Today, I am still not okay. My body is in so much pain I feel like somebody is kicking me in my stomach. I sneeze with pain and it's making me crippled. I still do the house chores even when I am sick but it's okay.

For two days, it's my husband who brings our son to school by car. It was also raining in the morning.

How did I get into a bike accident?

It was Tuesday afternoon, I had to get my son to school and I brought our daughter with me in the trailer. We went to the park after school and they played with other kids. It was one fine normal afternoon. I also did my 2 km run and for sure, I was tired.

It was time to get out of the park and I decided to stroll with our bike. Alexandre was screaming because he wanted to go home right away. Both of my kids were settled inside the trailer while Elise fell asleep right away. I just wanted Alexandre to fall asleep while I was biking around.

We went to the forest but with a slippery road. I told Alexandre to calm down and stay quiet or else, the big bad wolf would take him. And suddenly, BOOM! I fell down with the bike on my right side.

I got a scratch on my right arm.

A scratch on my right knee.

A little scratch on my right foot.

But the impact of the fall was serious. My son cried when he saw me fall. I told him that the big bad wolf punished me because he didn't want to calm down. Then he stopped to cry.

If you've seen the trailer, it is very safe, and the kids won't fall.

The risk of falling is me because the bike is heavy at the back of my bike seat. The battery is located under the child's seat and behind the bike seat. The battery is heavy. Every time I fall, it's always on the right side of the bike.

How do I get the flu?

Alexandre got it in school, then Elise got it from Alexandre. And now, I got it from Elise. In the middle of the night of Tuesday going Wednesday, Elise had trouble sleeping and breathing. She was crying. I asked her if she wanted a warm bath and she said yes. She felt better with the warm bath. The warm bath helped to unclog her nose. It's better to have a runny nose than a clogged nose.

While in the bath, I started sneezing. That was so quick. The whole night, Elise just slept beside me embracing me.

And a canceled meeting last Wednesday

I was supposed to meet a Filipina here in France in the countryside. I was excited to meet her as we are speaking the same mother tongue from our province. She has a daughter the same age as my son. I got worried because I didn't want to infect her daughter because of our flu.

I know how troublesome when a kid gets the flu and I don't want her to blame me when her daughter gets it. It is better safe than sorry and cancel the meeting. We will meet some other time when everybody is in good condition.

Last Wednesday, everybody just stayed at home and everyone got a fever.

Conclusion

When you have kids, it is not easy to meet other people especially when they get sick. I felt bad for canceling almost at the last minute. Right now, the kids are my priority and I have to sacrifice my social life.

And with the bike accident, next time, I let my son cry and scream until he gets tired and falls asleep in the trailer. All I need to do is focus on my biking and calm down as well, and I need my full concentration.

That's all for today's self-talk.
