I harvested the Pink Apricot buds a week and a half ago, they've been dried, trimmed, weighed, cured, and sampled.
Pink Apricot
The Pink Apricot 50/50 hybrid was created with the crossing of the Durban Poison and OG Kush strains. Bred by Weather Islands, they have a smooth 16-18% THC (Source).
Pink Apricot harvest
The Pink Apricot had a total of fourteen weeks of growth before harvest - five weeks of veg growth, nine weeks of bloom.
The bud stalks were cut and hung upside down in a ventilated room to dry. During that week I trimmed more and more leaves off the stalks each day. Each day the buds got stickier and the smell got less vegetative and more dank. After a week the buds were dry on the outside, they were snipped off the stalks for weighing and curing.
Bud Curing
The dried buds were weighed up and stored by the ounce in glass jars for curing. After the week of drying, the outside of the buds are bone dry and the insides are still a little damp - by storing them in the air tight mason jars, the moisture content in the bud equalizes. Every couple days the jar is opened or 'burped' to release any moisture build up in the air in the jar. After a week the bud is cured and dried and shelf stable for long term storage.
If the buds are not dried properly then they will be harder to smoke, will have trouble staying lit, and may start molding in storage. If the buds are not cured then the smoke might be harsh because the over dry outside bud would burn too quick.
Total Bud Weight
It was a decent haul with the harvest, 106 grams of bud total. A decent amount of the pistils we're still fresh, I suspect the buds could have benefitted from a couple more weeks of bloom time to finish thickening up. The 8 week bloom to me on the seed pack might be more of a suggestion - I suspect LED grow lights might need more time than the sun light, I'll be giving an extra couple weeks to my future plant bloom times.
Seeds Collected
57 viable pure Pink Apricot seeds so far, I'll most likely end up with 100 - that's a lot of grows! Cannabis seeds have always been Legal in Canada, only the plant and buds had been illegal previously.
The buds have a sweet apricot fruity pine scent.
The crisp buds have light and dark greens, burnt orange pistils, and a dusting of white trichomes.
The Roll-up
The Flavor
Sweet apricot fruity and light lemon lime diesel flavor - refreshing and smooth.
The Feels
Uplifting buzz, well balanced - eye lids eventually relax lightly. Smooth cushion, outgoing energetic buzz - I'd smoke these day or night.
A good haul and a fun grow, more harvests on the way. I did save all the trichomed leaf trimmings, I'll be making bubble bag hash with them soon.
