The Durban Violette cannabis plant was harvested last week, then trimmed, dried, weighed, cured, and sampled - bright grape flavor buds, smooth buzz.
Durban Violette harvest
After twelve weeks of veg growth time, and ten weeks of bloom mode, the Durban Violette was ready for harvest. Each stalk was snipped and strapped upside down to a clothes hanger for drying.
Durban Violette feminized strain is a Purple Papaya cross - a 60/40 indica leaner that was created with the crossing of the Texeda Time Warp, Pinewarp, A3, and Ancestral indica strains. With earthy hops, fresh citrusy pine, and cinnamon flavors, from the abundant Myrcene, Pinene and Humulene terpenes.
Most of the fan leaves were trimmed off early on, the buds seem to get stickier the longer that they dry. the larger buds were snipped down to size for more even drying.
A week before harvest the lower branch bud that was pollinated with Apricot Kush pollen was harvested, bursting with healthy and mature seeds.
More than eighty seeds were harvested from that one bud, a lot of crossbred Durban Violette x Apricot Kush mystery seeds to grow. With enough generations a new strain could be stabilized, or the variety of buds could just be smoked :)
Dried Harvest Weight
After a week of drying, the buds were ready for weighing, in the pics above and below you can see the difference in looks with the darker dried buds below.
Weighed up the harvest came out to 116 grams (4 ounces), an alright haul, but I was expecting it would be a little more from the size of the buds and stalks, but there needed to be more stalks for a larger haul. The Pink Apricot clone had a 6 ounce haul with half the vegetative growth time, but it had three clothes hangers filled with bud stalks. This Durban Violette didn't get bent over stem training, less branches that made it to the canopy.
The buds have a sweet lemon, clove cinnamon, and a light grape fruity scent to them.
Dark and light green buds with ample light and dark orange pistils, and a light dusting of white THC trichomes.
