SDN Samudrajaya 04 in Bekasi, West Java, Indonesia, faces not only issues with its damaged building but also frequent flooding whenever heavy rain hits Bekasi and the surrounding areas.
This often makes it difficult for students to study, and sometimes they have to learn in flooded conditions. Desks, cabinets, and classroom tables have become weak from the water damage, and even the classroom floors are slowly peeling away due to the standing water.
Flooding has become a regular occurrence since the area became filled with residential buildings. Before these houses were built, the area around SDN Samudrajaya 04 was just swamps and a river.
As a result, the overflowing river frequently floods the school where they teach.
The school has also requested the construction of strong foundations to protect the school from flooding, so that teaching and learning activities can continue smoothly.
