How sharing photos of Kookaburras Changed my Art!

Hey all!
Today I wanted to share a little story....my partner and I started noticing a family of Kookaburras hanging around our garden about 18months ago now, so we started going out there with little bits of mince for them and with in a couple of weeks we had made new friends! They started getting pretty comfortable with us and eventually would jump on our arms and chill with us for a bit each day!
I shared some images on social media and at the same time looked into what they represent as an animal totem...They are very symbolic of family as the babies stay with the parents until they have another lot of babies and they help raise their siblings! Then, once the siblings are grown they fly off and the pattern repeats itself over and over again!!! How beautiful!?!!!

I started trying to get good photos of them, but I am much better with a paint brush than a camera!!!!

So I shared this on social media, and someone messaged me saying they had been wanting to commission a Kookaburra painting and they felt like my love and connection with them would come through in the artwork....

So.... I got painting and this is what came out!

So again, I shared this story and painting on my social media, and again came forth somebody who wanted it on a jacket!!! Since, they have turned into one of my best selling designs. One day I even showed up to the markets with 2 Kookaburras painted and they where gone a few hrs into opening!!!!

The whole story from start to finish began with just trying to connect to the beautiful Australian animals that I am very grateful to live among and share that story with others :)

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR READING!.png
