Back in December, I visited the islands of Estonia. Namely, Muhu and Saaremaa. When we arrived in Muhu by ferry and after we had something to eat, we made a quick stop at the Eemu windmill. This is located on the western side of Muhu, right next to the road that leads to Saaremaa.
The weather was stunning. One of the best winter weathers I can hope for. Deep fresh snow and sunny cold weather. If I recall correctly there was only one more instance like this last winter.
The windmill is open to the public since the 80s and serves no economic purpose anymore. In the summer months, you can visit this place and get inside the windmill. I have heard that you have to possibility to make your own flour too. This windmill has become the symbol of the island Muhu. The island itself is only 15km across.
Here are some more winter wonderland photos I took in the area.
By the windmill, you can see some trenches in the ground. These are there since world war 1. We hardly saw anything but just a bit was visible under the deep cover of snow. There is a board with information regarding to these trenches.
I have some more crazy show shots coming. The snowfall period didn't stop on this day during our trip to these islands.
Don't forget to participate in my monthly weather guessing game here and you might win 10 HIVE. The game is open until the 17th of April.
