I rarely have the patience to capture good wildlife photos. Animals just do their own thing so in order to capture one in a photogenic way you have to wait it out and stalk them until they wonder into the light and hopefully there is a composition around them. I was keeping my distance and stalking this bear for a good 30 minutes before he wandered over to this cliff baking in morning light. He isn't quite in the right spot, but this was the best frame I got that morning and I'll take it.

Prior to wandering over to this cliff I watched the bear out smart a bear proof trash can and have a feast. He got me off guard for sure, he was very casual about everything. He popped his head up to check me out then proceeded to go back to the task at hand.

I could tell that this bear was very used to people being around and this was not his first rodeo with the trash cans. Back in the 80's when they first started trying to design a bear proof trash can a ranger was quoted saying, "There is considerable overlap between the intelligence of the smartest bears and the dumbest tourists." 40 years later and it seems we still have the same problem.
