We call this flower as ' Brahma Kamal' in India. The speciality of this flower is that it blooms only once a year, only at night, and lasts for only one night! It blooms in the monsoon season only (from June to September). This flower is considered sacred as per the Hindu mythology, symbolizing purity and transcendence. Its scientific name is 'Saussurea obvallata'. It has many medicinal properties and used in the treatment of bone ache, coughs and colds.
According to Vastu Shasthra also, keeping Brahma Kamal at home is very auspicious as it gets rid of negativity in the surroundings.
