Walking in a Snow Forest

Hello to all! Winter is a great time of the year to get outside and enjoy the natural surroundings. But in order to fully enjoy the winter landscapes, you need to go beyond. In my case, I went outside my hometown towards the forest. Thanks to severe frosts, both rivers that separated the city from the wild froze. Thus, I was able to freely get into the dense winter forest. Despite all the difficulties, it turned out to be an interesting forest adventure.

It was not difficult to overcome the frozen marshland and two rivers. At the very beginning, the winter forest looked fabulous. Lots of trees covered in snow. Fresh air, which is different from what we breathe in cities. The forest in winter is a great place for walks and positive impressions.

However, the further I went into the depths of the forest, the more difficult it was to move. No, it's not the snow, because there wasn't much of it. Fallen trees were the main problem. There were enough of them. The deeper I went into the winter forest, the more fallen and diseased trees there were. The bark beetle invasion is a disease that has affected local forests, just like covid has affected the planet.

In winter, the forest looks mysterious. Snow shows surface topography. At the same time, the snow hides imperfections that are caused by the attack of the bark beetle. It seems to me that despite the tragedy of the situation, fallen trees against the background of a snow-covered forest look spectacular. This picture creates a unique atmosphere. My smartphone uses AI mode, which affects the contrast of some of the photos.

Forest chaos. Approximately so it is possible to describe what I saw. Although it is difficult to call it chaos, as it is a manifestation of nature. Sometimes controlled, sometimes not. One way or another, this did not overshadow my winter forest hike. On the contrary, using fantasy, in some places you can see familiar or bizarre forms created by chance and mother nature.

Any hike in the forest is associated with a sense of peace and mystery. This is the place that reminds me of the primitive essence, of the distance from progress and return to natural sources. The winter forest is a hypnotic place. Silence surrounds you, but if you listen, you can hear the sounds of nature. The woodpeckers, branches in the distance and a light breeze create their own unique natural symphony.

All adventures come to an end sooner or later. But having visited the forest, I was satisfied with the surrounding and inaccessible nature for me. I received a storm of positive emotions and charged my mental battery. A wonderful and inexplicable feeling! How do you feel about winter outdoor adventures?
