Strangely Silent Sunday

It's not normal for me to be the first person up on a Sunday, but with @zakludick working so hard on the ship this week, it's no wonder he needed a bit of a lie-in on his only day off.

It was strange to venture outside the bedroom, where I could see the gorgeous sunrise from the East side of our home.

Our bedroom, garden, lounge, and dining area are west-facing, so I often miss this.

Being up this early also meant I was on cat-feeding duty. I made a trade with Squeek that I'd get a few shots of her before I fed her. Although slightly reluctant to start, she warmed up with some loving and petting!

I never used to be much of a morning person at all, but between my anxiety and Zak's insane work schedule, my body clock is now set to 5 am. Being alone this early on a Sunday meant that I could hear the first birds tweet and then hear their song get louder as more birds joined the chorus. It is also possible if there is no traffic, to hear the ocean from where we are.

It was just lovely to sit on my own while I waited for the kettle to boil, and just take in the beauty of the morning in silence.
