Today I would like to present one of my works that I created between September and October 2019. During this time, I explored the mental bubbles in which we live.

The Cage
A topic that has lost none of its topicality. The division in society has even increased since then and in some European countries there is open violence on the streets.
Heute möchte ich hier eine meiner Arbeiten präsentieren, die im September bis Oktober 2019 entstanden ist. In dieser Zeit setzte ich mich mit den gedanklichen Blasen, in denen wir leben, auseinander. Hier nochmal der Link:

Ein Thema, welches nichts an Aktualität eingebüßt hat. Die Spaltung in der Gesellschaft hat seitdem sogar noch zugenommen und in einigen Ländern Europas kommt es zu offener Gewalt auf den Straßen.

My aim was to depict a portrait in a bubble that opens up. I wanted to symbolize the prerequisite for an exchange of ideas, namely openness towards other opinions. I can remember heated debates with friends or family in which completely opposing points of view were represented. In the end, I always found these discussions broadened my horizons.
Mei Ziel war es, ein Portrait in einer Blase darzustellen, welche sich öffnet. Damit wollte ich die Voraussetzung eines Gedankenaustausches, nämlich die Offenheit gegenüber anderen Meinungen zu symbolisieren. Ich kann mich an hitzige Debatten mit Freunden oder in der Familie erinnern, bei denen völlig konträre Standpunkte vertreten wurden. Am Ende fand ich diese Diskussionen stets horizonterweiternd.

Making Of
In this blog, I would like to focus on the creation of my pictures. As always, I show the set in the last picture. It was very simple. I attached a silicone cord to a wire bent into a semicircle. I attached an LEDLenser P7 to the silicone cord using an adapter. I mounted the whole thing on a tripod. This allowed the silicone cord to be swiveled by 200°.
Vorrangig möchte ich in diesem Blog auf die Entstehung meiner Bilder eingehen. Das Set zeige ich, wie immer, auf dem letzten Bild. Es war denkbar einfach. Dafür befestigte ich eine Silikonschnur an einem zum Halbkreis gebogenen Draht. An der Silikonschnur befestigte ich über einen Adapter eine LEDLenser P7. Das Ganze montierte ich auf ein Stativ. So konnte die Silikonschnur um 200° geschwenkt werden.

The result was the shape of a motorcycle helmet. I really liked that. With the LEDLenser P7, 4 colors can be selected. White, blue, green and red. The colored lines in the “bubble” were created by switching the colors while moving the silicone cord.
Dabei entstand die Form eines Motorradhelmes. Das gefiel mir schon recht gut. Mit der LEDLenser P7 können 4 Farben gewählt werden. Weiß, Blau, Grün, Rot. Durch das Umschalten der Farben während der Bewegung der Silikonschnur entstanden die farbigen Linien in der "Blase".

Now I had to conjure myself into the bubble. To do this, I used a flash with a snoot. I wanted the head to fill as much space as possible in the bubble. I used a zoom lens to achieve this as precisely as possible.
Nun musste ich mich noch in die Blase zaubern. Dafür verwendete ich ein Blitzlicht mit einer Snoot. Der Kopf sollte möglichst Raumfüllend in der Blase erscheinen. Um dies möglichst genau abzustimmen, verwendete ich ein Zoom-Objektiv.

In the two pictures above, I show a self-portrait with an open and a closed “visor”. In the end, I found this representation too boring. The exposure of my likeness with the help of glass fibers looks a bit more mystical.
Auf den beiden Bildern oben zeige ich je ein Selbstportrait mit offenen- und mit geschlossenen "Visier". Letztendlich erschien mir diese Darstellung zu langweilig. Etwas mystischer wirkt die Belichtung meines Konterfeis mit Hilfe von Glasfasern.

In the first two pictures above and the last two pictures you can see the result when using black glass fiber. I attached a black fiberglass to a flashlight with a color filter using an adapter. Then I stroked my face with the fiberglass. This often leads to unexpected, abstract results, as you can see in the last picture.
Auf den ersten beiden Bildern oben und den beiden letzten Bildern siehst du das Ergebnis bei Einsatz von schwarzem Glasfiber. Ein schwarzes Glasfiber habe ich mit einem Adapter an einer Taschenlampe mit Farbfilter befestigt. Dann strich ich mir selbst mit dem Glasfiber über das Gesicht. Das führt oft zu unerwarteten, abstrakten Ergebnissen, wie man auf dem letzten Bild erkennen kann.

What Is Light Painting?
Light painting is a unique art form. As a rule, the darkness is illuminated by the artist with various light sources and traces of light are painted into the picture with various lighting tools. Various techniques are used, such as camera rotation or other movements of the camera during exposure. The creative possibilities are almost unlimited. When using ND filters, this technique can also be used in daylight. All images were taken during a single exposure. Apart from denoising, sharpening, cropping and possibly adjusting the white balance, the images are not processed on the computer.
Lichtmalerei ist eine einzigartige Kunstform. In der Regel wird die Dunkelheit mit diversen Lichtquellen vom Künstler ausgeleuchtet und Lichtspuren mit diversen Lichtwerkzeugen ins Bild gemalt. Dabei kommen verschiedene Techniken zum Einsatz, wie Kamerarotation oder andere Bewegungen der Kamera während der Belichtung. Die kreativen Möglichkeiten sind nahezu unbegrenzt. Bei Einsatz von ND-Filtern kann diese Technik auch bei Tageslicht angewand werden. Alle Bilder wurden während einer einzigen Belichtung aufgenommen. Abgesehen vom Entrauschen, Schärfen, Beschneiden und eventuellem Anpassen des Weißabgleichs werden die Bilder nicht am Computer bearbeitet.
