Deinfluencing Organizing

I see a lot of content on social media that is ☼pretty, aesthetic☼ organizing, where people buy all of these cool organizers from IKEA or Container Store or wherever so their pantries and closets look ♦satisfying♦, and that's all well and good if that's your motivation, but I think putting the emphasis on matchy-matchy, "professional" looking organization is wasteful, both in money and in resources, since most people already have some containers they can probably use.

Here I am showing you a lot of things that I use to organize, including cat litter buckets, vinyl bags that blankets or something came in, old schoolbags, gift boxes, food containers, etc.

I'm not saying the purpose-bought containers don't have their place (I show you a few I have at the beginning), but don't let it trip you up when you are trying to declutter and organize thinking that you should get these things first. Do the decluttering part, see what's left, and then make your decisions on if you really need something new, or if you have enough things you can use to organize your space already. Often, part of your clutter is also part of your solution! :)
