Greetings fellow musical Hivers 🤘

Hello hello! Long time no see, and would you look at that?! It's the last #threetunetuesday of the year! I couldn't possibly miss this, so I'm popping up again to say hi to the #ttt family 🙌 (note to self - how I've missed you all!) .

In the meanwhile, I'll take this chance to introduce an instrument I hadn't talked about before - the Ocarina. Have you ever heard of it, dear reader? No?

You've come to the right post then! Come with me and let's find out 😉.

Three Tune Tuesday 🎸

For those of you who don't know, Three Tune Tuesday was created by @ablaze and as he explains 👇

The jist is as follows

Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs which I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning a prize.

This Christmas I decided to offer a special gift to my boyfriend and when I was trying to decide I thought it had to be something related to music. There are several musical instruments I know he would like to have - as many as possible in his words 😅 (note to self - basically means I don't have kids nor silence at home) .

So I went deep searching for something that could fit my budget but would still make him excited to try something new. I remembered one of his favourite games, called The Legend of Zelda (note to self - seriously, he is crazy about it. Has played them all) . In that game, the main character, Link, plays the Ocarina, a weirdly shaped wind instrument. He also loves the game's songs btw.

The more I thought about it, the more perfect the gift seemed to me! Luckily, I found an Ocarina from the game, with a playsheet included with some of the game's music. How I loved to see his smile open wide as he unraped the gift 😍 (note to self - damn, I should have recorded it! ) !!

So, this is a classic Ocarina. It has this strange oval shape and this one has a high pitch sound. It can be beautiful if you know how to play it correctly (note to self - not my case, I sound like a cat scratching its nails at the wall 😨)

The classic Ocarina has 12 holes, as you can see in the pictures above, it has ten holes at the front and two at the back. Depending on which holes are covered, it plays a different note. There are several different ocarinas, all with different sizes and numbers of holes. I've seen ocarinas with 4, 6, 8 and 10 holes throughout my research.

For now, the ocarina is in my possession since my partner is on a family trip for the next week... So, I've been having some fun with it for the last 2 days! 😆😆😆 (note to self - is it wrong to have fun with a gift I offered to someone else 🤔? Well... He doesn't mind 😄)

My 3 song recommendation 😎

As I think it's pretty obvious now, today's song recommendations will be songs from The Legend of Zelda game. I hope you all enjoy the chilling sound of an ocarina.

If I can throw a suggestion here, imagine yourself in a country field, full of green tall grass where you sit in the shadow of a tree. Hit play and enjoy!

1 - Legend of Zelda Medley on STL Ocarina - Lena Leclaire

I enjoyed seeing Lena Leclaire playing the ocarina with such beautiful cosplay, which I found randomly. So I've decided to share it with you all!

2 - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Song of Storms

This is one of my favourites and it's the one I'm trying to learn currently. It was one that Lena included in her medley. I've been watching some tutorials and exploring the sounds the ocarina makes.

I have no experience with wind instruments and maybe that's why it's being so fun to try out without expectations. It's quite hard to do a clear straight sound, as I understand a good breathing technique is required alongside good hand coordination (note to self - great, I got neither 😆) .

3 - The Legend of Zelda: - Gerudo Valley

To close things off, I'm choosing to share a lullaby from the Skyward Sword expansion. It's so so beautiful and calm, in my humble opinion. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do, go back to that country field you were just in 😊!

Final considerations 🙌

That's it from me today, dear reader! I hope you enjoyed learning a bit more about this musical instrument that can produce beautiful music 😊. Let me know your thought in the comments below 😁.

What a ride 2022 has been! So great music was shared this year and so many talented musicians were new to me. I'm honoured to be part of #ttt and I would like to thank @ablaze for all his efforts in keeping the #ttt family going!

Cheers to 2023 and more great music coming 🤘!
