My Actifit Report Card: October 17 2021

Detail of a work in progress by Nigel Cheney.

A lovely day, mostly spent knitting. It was raining when I got up and for most of the day, windy and overcast and a little cool. I was tired after the week and two busy days and it was delightful to get lost in knitting.

I undid the finish on the armband of my dark academia slipover - it needs repeating but with a slightly larger needle, 7mm, I think. I'm looking forward to steaming and blocking, it should be lovely. I've been researching a soft cotton shirt to wear underneath but I think I will have to make one to get the right fit.

Enjoyed reading my new book, first published in 1957, with 60 patterns including a baby's layette and woollen knickers (!). The layette includes the little crossover vests I remember my mother making and I've found a suitable yarn in an authentic off-white colour.

Knitted a swatch for my first try of the all in one basic jumper from Cocoknits. I've worked out the increases and blending from one size for the shoulders to another for the full bust measurement. Also have enough wool, and enough wool for a second cardigan, open fronted with waterfall edges.

Finally, found Holst Garn yarns ... So many wonderful colours and a new designer Petite Knits with lovely tops and other things.
