My Actifit Report Card Mango Farewell: April 9 2024

Hi Everyone,

It has been a tough week for me. On Thursday, Mango passed away. Mango was a beautiful long-haired chihuahua. He has featured in so many of my Actifit Posts and Updates. His walks have consistently been almost half my daily activity.

I have never had a dog who loved his walks so much. If I was out for the day and missed his walk he would refuse to go to bed. I would have to give him a short walk even if it was as late as midnight.

In Australia, if he hadn't had his walk for the day, he would try and escape by digging under the fence. He got out a few times. He would then take the exact journey of his walks. I would have to chase after him, I normally caught up with him at the roundabout.

The final week he really struggled. On his last walk, I had to carry him to the grass area. He did a very short walk, the best he could. I carried him home. The next day he passed away in his sleep.

It is very sad to see him go. I have some comfort in knowing he had a good life. He also had a long life, he almost made it to 17. We adopted him in 2009 from a shelter in Queensland, Australia. He was due to be put down on that day. Instead, he was flown to us where we had an amazing 15 years.

My Content

I had to take a few days off from posting. However, I managed to post once. This post was titled 'The Family'. It feels appropriate since I lost a family members this week. I consider animal companions as family.

The post had nothing to do with my family. Instead, it was a discussion about family in general. It asked and answered several questions. What determines the size and structure of a family? What are the roles of a family? What are the trends in family and attitude towards family? What are the consequences of deteriorating family structure? Is this deterioration intentional or unintentional? Why would it be intentional and why would it be beneficial for some?

When I started the post, I wanted to focus on why the deterioration of the family might be desirable to the Establishment. I soon realised that I was getting ahead of myself. I needed to break down the nature of the family and explain it's significance. I also felt I needed a greater understanding of the problems. I felt I achieved this with the post. I feel writing another post about family and it's collapse will be easier as I can use this one as a reference.

I will be writing fewer posts on Hive for the next few months as I have started writing Sapien Loop 2. I really enjoyed writing the first book. I feel this story still has more to give. It should be a little easier than the first book, as I'm more experienced in fiction writing.

That wraps up this Actifit Report and Update. I wish everyone a great week ahead.
