Hi Everyone,
I'm back with another Actifit Report and Update (Super Bowl Special). Yesterday, I watched the Super Bowl. I'm in the UK, so the game is played late at night. It started around 11:30pm and ended just after 3am. The Super Bowl was between the Cincinnati Bengals and the LA Rams. The game was played in LA. This gave the Rams homefield advantage. This is only the second time in NFL history that a Super Bowl team has played in their own stadium. The first time was last year when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers played at home.
I predicted the Super Bowl would be between the Chiefs and the Packers. I also predicted the results of almost all the playoff games incorrectly. I think I got one out of six predictions right. I predicted both Bengals and Rams would be eliminated in the Divisional Round. In hindsight, I see some logic in a Bengals Rams Super Bowl. The Bengals for the year of the Tiger (lunar calendar) and the Rams to help rebuild the LA fan base. There are many ways things can play out.
The game was fairly good. The teams performed well in spurts. The Rams looked stronger early on the game but after they lost a key player to injury (Odell Beckham), they struggled to move the ball and score points. The Bengals came from behind to take the lead in the second half but did not consistently move the ball well. Their big play touchdown came off a missed offensive pass interference penalty. The referees did not seem to be calling any penalties in this game for anything (that changes later).
The game came down to a late game drive by the Rams. In the final 2 minutes, the Rams had the ball inside the Bengals 20 yard line. The score was 20 to 16 to the Bengals. The Rams needed a touchdown to take the lead. The referees, who had been very quiet all game decided to start calling penalties. These penalties, basically, handed a game winning touchdown to the Rams. The Bengals had some time left to make a comeback but failed to do so. The Rams won the game.
My Opinions
Overall, the Rams played better than the Bengals. The injury to Beckham and the missed penalty on the touchdown kept the Bengals in the game. The Rams defence was very impressive. They pressured the Bengals QB (Joe Burrow) non-stop in the second half of the game. The Bengals defence played well too and completely stopped the Rams running game. However, the Rams moved the ball better because of great play from Cooper Kupp (eventual MVP of the game).
The game was intended to be kept close and the Bengals were meant to take the lead so that the Rams could stage a comeback. However, it was done in such a way that the game looked rigged. The referees dramatic change in attitude in the last 2 minutes looked very suspicious. Fans took to social media to complain about match rigging. Overall, the reputation of the NFL will be hurt by how the game ended. Many see the NFL as a sport rather than sports entertainment. They want games to be determined by play rather than script. I believe the NFL is very similar to the WWE and should be treated as entertainment.
That wraps up my Super Bowl Actifit Report. My main activity was watching the game. However, I did achieve some real counts from earlier in the day when I walked Mango the dog and picked up some drinks and treats for the game. I have not posted any content since my previous report. I have been busy writing introductions to different sections of my book. I should be able to post part of one of them sometime in the week.
