The day of the Union of the Romanian Principalities – January 24

Today is the day of the Union of the Romanian Principalities. In 1859, the two Romanian states of that time, Moldavia and Wallachia, united under the name of the United Principalities of Moldavia and Wallachia.
To do this they resorted to a small ploy. They chose a unique ruler in the person of Alexandru Ioan Cuza (Moldova elected him on January 5 and Wallachia on January 24).
In the beginning, it was a personal union, Cuza actually leading two states, each with its own government and its own parliament.
Later, in 1862, Cuza managed to unify the two governments and parliaments.
In 1866 he was removed from power but his successor, Carol de Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, consolidated the union and, by voting for the constitution, laid the foundations of the state under the name of Romania.

Today has been a foggy day. However, I managed to make my 10 km norm.
