Rouse Hil in Western Sydney for funeral and wake : October 23 2024

A solemn day lined up for the funeral of my sister-in-law's mother who passed last week. Drove out to Rouse Hill in the north west of Sydney for the funeral. Met our family there

Castlebrook Memorial Cemetery had lots of roses in the gardens

Assembled gathering waiting for proceedings to begin. Was a quiet solemn affair. Both my sister-in-law and brother-in-law spoke sharing their stories. Good to hear a little more about the journey

New spring life on this tree was a good reminder from the service - live life and take photos.

A little history story in the office commemorating The Battle of Vinegar Hill Australia. In 1804 a group of Irish renegades who had been banished from Ireland after the Battle of Vinegar Hill in 1798 plotted a mass escape from Rouse Hill Farm. Did not last long and were quickly knocked back and the leaders executed. That happened just down the way from the cemetery

The wake for the funeral was held in the Windsor RSL not far from where Lynn lived before moving to soend her final years with her daughter.

Family came back to Sydney to stay with us. I took a short walk down the lane behind to get the steps up. Heard voice at the house on the end. Two people sitting around the fire out enjoying a glass a red. A fitting moment of repose in line with Lynn's motto to live life

Dinner: BBQ eye fillet - was really good. Night turned into a long night reminiscing and grieving and wine drinking.
