Description: Known as the "zombie plant," Rafflesia arnoldii has the largest flower in the world, reaching up to 3 feet in diameter. Itโs a parasite with no stems, leaves, or roots.
Cool Fact: It smells like rotting meat to attract flies for pollination. Yep, itโs that weird!
Where to Find: Deep in the rainforests of Sumatra and Borneo.
2. Amorphophallus titanum:
Description: Also called the "corpse flower," Titan arum has the largest flower structure in the world, growing up to 10 feet tall!
Cool Fact: It stinks like a dead body to attract insects for pollination. Blooms for just a few days then wilts away.
Where to Find: Native to the tropical rainforests of Sumatra.
3. Welwitschia mirabilis:
Description: This desert plant is a living fossil found only in the Namib Desert. Some are over 1000 years old!
Cool Fact: It only has two leaves that grow continuously throughout its life, which can reach several meters long and look all torn up from the harsh desert conditions.
Where to Find: Exclusively in the Namib Desert in southern Africa.
