Recycle, forage, get a greenhouse

Good night, I hope you're all doing great and experiencing a fulfilling moment of your lives. Today I've finally managed to bring you a new forest life journal which had been on hold because the work here presented has been time consuming, as well as the fact that I've been feeding mostly off harvesting and foraging these days.

The weather also has been placing a lot of pressure into getting this done, but I'm really enjoying the process so it's not a problem.

And so it has happened... The first frost of the year has come and done it's vile acts. Autumn is only beginning we're already at this point. Don't want to even think about how winter is going to be. Goodbye to all hope of tomatoes...(maybe not, but that's for another post).
.

By some miracle, the cannabis plants made it through barely harmed.

To prevent them from suffering future frosts I improvised a few willow archs and put plastics on top, hoping this would be enough until I finished the greenhouse.

To cover up more area quickly I went to the edge of the road and hacked willow like crazy. Even did a public service because a sign became visible once again.

With the sides of the greenhouse covered with willow it begin to look like a jungle.

It was impressive to visit at night and feel how much protection a few plastics provided. I noticed this because my ears were very cold out in the open but under the cover they warmed up.

Next day it was time to continue working on the roof structure. Blessed with a sunny and warm day!

Since I had no plastics large enough to cover the whole structure I had to sew them. In this case I'm using home-made willow cordage but I also used recycled stuff I find walking in the fields.

My mother is the principal of a a rural school and she has implemented growing food as part of the educational program. Since they changed the plastics of a greenhouse this year, she brought me all the old ones; a big treasure!

Progress was much faster with those larger plastics, although they don't cover the whole thing either, they are larger than what I had.

Finally, the roof is completely covered!

I would love for this to be the post where I can show the finished work but there's still a lot to do and I've been kicking this post for a while now so I'll share future updates soon. Anyway, this is going to be an evolving project as I intend to put all my energy and mind into getting this to be warm in the winter, I am obsessed with that idea and will see it through, so there will be many adjustments in days to come.

I hope you've enjoyed this, I know I have and it's so nice to feel the warmth inside there. The plants are liking it too, and it's only going to get better. I intend to turn this into my base of operations so many following posts will be about this. Till next time!
