Out With The Old

IN WITH THE NEW

I changed my ancient ceiling light to a more modern, safer and energy efficient one. The one I had before was in that old school style with the moderately elaborate fittings and faux gold decorations. It served it's time and looked good back in the day. It was originally fitted with the oldschool tungsten bulbs that have since been outlawed in the UK. The modern bulbs are not outlawed, but they've also become old-fashioned because of LED.

Technology has since moved on and LED lights are all the rage now. They are brighter while using less energy than standard bulbs. They achieve this by being better art converting electric current to photons. The create less heat, which is another way energy is wasted with the standard bulbs. It took a little bit of DIY since I had to patch up some of the ceiling damaged by the installation of the old light. It had also become loose and threatened to fall on my head at any point. I am comfortable with electricity so that bit was light work. The plastering was a little more challenging.

I'm pretty happy with the new lights. They look more flush and modern and give a minimalist feel to the room now.

Peace & Love,

Adé
