2nd Time Around! Hive Orientation & OCD Onboarding Program at Caduawan Elementary School

In the end, I couldn't say NO to @callmesmile and the rest of the onboarders who asked me to be the main speaker for our recent Hive Orientation at Cadauwan Elementary School. I initially declined as I had other commitments but not just that, I want to train the onboarders to be the speakers for future sessions like this. @callmesmile told me at the last minute that they weren't too confident as a few of their invites were from principals from other schools. As for me, regardless of anybody's professional ranking, I deemed it to be invaluable when it comes to Hive. I see everyone as equal.

PREPARATIONS

For someone who has been onboarding for over a year now, the script has always been the same. I had already tailored the flow of topics with what is necessary and valuable to the newbies. You will notice that I have been using the same slides over and over again. What matters is I can deliver in a way that they would simply grasp the concepts. It would have been more informative though if @ybanezkim26 was able to join us but he has travels planned this weekend.

The venue was hosted by none other than @lovinglymers, the principal of Caduawan Elementary School. This was the second time around we held our orientation in this very school. The place is strategically convenient for almost everyone. Located along the main road and can be reached by bus or private vehicles, it was a 30-minute ride from my place. Apart from that, everything we needed was provided which includes the TV, the sound system, the internet connection and not to mention, @lovinglymers' laptop. I have stopped bringing mine due to back and knee problems so it was a huge relief to be able to come and facilitate with all equipment already provided.

Also, I couldn't be more grateful enough to all onboarders who I always tell that there is no need to have an abundant supply of food during our sessions but always manage to share so much more. We always left satiated every single time.

ORIENTATION DAY

We held our onboarding last December 8, 2023. It was a holiday so more people were able to come. I was expecting about 10-12 participants but on the day itself, the room was packed!

After a short prayer led by @callmesmile, we had a round of short introductions. I asked the invites to share their name, who invited them, why they came, and their hobbies. I was amazed to learn that some of them came through word of mouth from another invite as well. I also asked our Hivers present to share how long have they been blogging and how much have they been earning just to prove that this wasn't all a scam. We all had our laughs during this part.

Then we proceeded with our main discussion. We covered the basics of Hive, Navigating Peakd, the Reward System, the Do's and Don'ts, how to get curated, and also the @ocd onboarding Program. It was 1 hour and 45 minutes of continuous, non-stop talking. Good thing, I had breaks when I asked @callmesmile and @naymhapz to take over for a couple of minutes.

By the end of the session, I asked by a show of hands who were interested in joining Hive and half of the people did. However, I knew better not to expect but I still hope that we have more than a 50% conversion rate in the next few weeks. Regardless they will join or not, what matters is that we have shown them an opportunity to learn all about Hive, to be exposed to cryptocurrency, to ignite their writing skills, and to invest and earn on the side through their blogs.

We had our obligatory group shot and after that a sumptuous salo-salo where the food was prepared and cooked by @simplybil, @missbebeth, @heyitsjian, and @lovinglymers. Thank you for fulfilling my request for veggie lumpia and fish! And while we enjoyed the food, we had a little discussion for our upcoming Xmas party. Can't wait for it to happen.
