Hi Folks!
Happy weekend! I hope everyone is fine and healthy.
So Yeah, Let's jump in for today's blog, I just mentioned last time that I spent 3 days with Kythe Kids an Org that I've been part of for almost 3 years now, for a recap, basically those kids are suffering with chronic illnesses so dealing with them is not that easy it takes a lot of effort and patience.
Kythe conducts a yearly camp for children and volunteers to have a good time and bond, and especially to let the children explore the outside world since they are hospitalized and some are isolated inside their houses.
The 3 days with them are memorable and priceless. I enjoyed that time getting to know them better and seeing how they felt about being a person with illness.
The Place:
Let me share first the place where we held our summer camp, which is located in Camp Benjamin, Alfonso Cavite.
It is a relaxing and astonishing place where you can enjoy nature at its fullest, It is a complete place to relax and find your inner peace.
It can accommodate I think thousands of people, with complete rooms and a swimming pool.
As you can see, It is quite spacious, you can play sports and do whatever you want.
At a room assignment, I handled 6 kids and I needed to watch them until the last day
and I took that opportunity to know them well. They have different stories and experiences which I'm glad that they are comfortable sharing with me.
Activities:
We had a lot of activities from Indoors to outdoors and the kids enjoyed it, I appreciate it cause I engaged with them.
There's a performance task per team, art activities, and many more.
The Event Hall just filled with happiness and creativity at that moment
What I enjoy the most is our Art Activity in which we create our own Canvas Bag and symbol, this one is so therapeutic, you know, working together with these kids is on a different level. Their ideas and creativity are so amazing. Imagine what more they can do if they're normal kids. So astonishing!
Take a look at this art; The Canvas bags are so elegant the kids do that individually. while the group banner we've made it through scratches, grass, and everything that we've seen in nature.
At night, we have a bonfire and simple jamming and that's so memorable, we have a good time the kids' smiles are priceless.
We grilled hotdogs and marshmallows on sticks while singing and enjoying nature.
For Our last day, each of us needs to make an envelope and post it in the mailbox. When I got mine, I had mixed emotions cause I received a lot of messages from kids and my co-volunteers, I actually didn't expect it cause it was my first time however, they made me feel that I always belong.
The messages are so heartwarming so I'm gonna keep it for the rest of my life lol!
After that, we packed up and went home.
I will never forget this Summer Camp, I learned and enjoyed a lot, and I realized that being a volunteer is something that will satisfy your soul.
That's it for today.
Thanks for reading! See you around! 😊
