Oftentimes, it's good to reminisce about the good old days, especially when it's pouring hard outside. While listening to huge drops of rain and gushing sounds of the wind brought by the typhoon, I was browsing my gallery on my old phone and binge-watching K-drama series.
I came across an album with photos taken last 2014 when I worked as a company reliever in my province, Samar. During this period, I've been relieving one branch and another, from Western to Eastern Samar. It was quite a tough job, especially since I had the worst travel sickness back then.
One of the places I visited was Borongan, a humble city in Eastern Samar. And just like in other places I've been to, I met people who became part of my life, although temporarily, they left a spot in my memory. That's life anyway. People come and go, but memories remain.
Borongan has a lot of tourist spots, but believe me, I've never been to any of them, lol. My life focused on my work as a reliever in different branches. One night, my colleagues and I were suddenly invited by a common friend to eat dinner in a restaurant. It was his treat, so why would we reject it?
We went to La Caban, which was just a few walks from our staff house.
It was the lady in the pink shirt's friend who invited us to La Caban, the only guy in the group, whom we first met that night. She was the closest to me among the staff since she was the one who welcomed me the night I arrived at Borongan. While waiting for our order, we were happily chatting about life and random stuff.
It took a while to serve our food since it was cooked right after we ordered. We had lechon kawali or fried pork, pansit or rice vermicelli, and another big plate of rice 🤣. Our dinner was loaded with carbohydrates. That's Pinoy! We can't eat without rice, lol.
While eating, my colleague's friend ordered some beer, and I had a bottle of San Mig Light, just enough to trigger my alcohol tolerance, lol. There are only two types of alcoholic drinks I am drinking: San Mig Light and Tanduay Ice, because they have low alcohol levels.
It was a relaxing night with friends while savoring some drinks, and listening to relaxing music coming from the live band. The local band sang pop, RnB, and soothing music that entertained us that night. We stayed in the resto-bar before eleven, then left to stroll around the city.
