Call Of Duty | Flower Decoration At Barangay Chapel

Hello, Hive friends! It's been a long time since my last blog. I've been very busy lately due to loads of activities in school. I'll be sharing with you today one of the things that made me so busy for the month of September. I hope you are doing well as you read this.

Last month, I was tasked with doing the chapel decoration of our barangay, where the school I am teaching is located. As part of our community involvement, our school sponsored the decoration and the Thanksgiving mass for the barangay fiesta celebration. Our school head then told me to lead the team for the decoration of the chapel, which I accepted wholeheartedly since I love doing decorations with my trainee learners. With the help of Ma'am Almira and her learner artists, we repainted the pedestals, which we usually use in any events in schools and even in the district programs.

Heart seriously followed the instructions of ma'am Almira.

Though we only sponsored the fiesta decoration, I informed the chapel officers that I will be starting decorating the day before the 1st day novena. I went to the chapel together with my co-teachers, who were also vacant at that time, and some learners. We started by doing skirting on the table where we are going to place the patron saint, and Ma'am Almira did the backdrop decoration. I did the other artificial flower arrangements and placed the big vases, which we borrowed from the cousin of ma'am Jess. We waited for the other flowers that the chapel officers offered, but sad to say, they were not able to come because they were also busy with their other responsibilities in the community.

Ma'am Jess and KB helped in preparing the used floral foams.

We went back to the school and took some minutes to rest. I then changed the bulb sockets, which I'm going to use to give light to the altar. I need to go back to the chapel after 5:00 o'clock, our timeout from school. I fetch my wife and kids from the central school. When we arrived home, I immediately changed my clothes and asked my wife to come with me to the chapel to install the bulbs. When I arrived, Heart was already there, one of the learner artists who helped us in decorating. She opened the chapel for me since she knew the caretaker. I successfully installed the sockets, and I was glad that it was working well.

On the next day, I went back to the chapel together with Heart to do the final touches since they will be having a motorcade in the afternoon. I asked Heart to arrange sets of flowers in front of San Isidro Laborador. While I did flower arrangements at the main altar. I also placed the fresh flowers sponsored by a family who came from abroad. After we finished, we went back to the school for our school-related responsibilities.

On the 9th day, or the Valentine's Day, Ma'am Almira bought fresh flowers from the city. We decided to buy from the city so that we could choose the fresh ones and avail discounts from the vendors. Vincent and Almira met at the city's flower shops. Almira and her father arrived in Tabogon Town at 4:00 am. I told them to take a nap at Ma'am Jess' house. I'll just get the flowers once I'll start the decoration. When I arrived at school, I asked some learners to bring the flowers from Ma'am Jess' house to the chapel. I arrived at the chapel with John, one of our learners who knows how to drive a motorcycle. I asked him to go with me so that he could get some materials or tools that we left at the school.

After a few minutes, Almira, Jenicris, and Ivy arrived to help me with the decoration. I instructed them what to do while I was arranging the flowers in front of the patron saint. They focused on the alter while I was doing the flower arrangements for the carroza. I also took the time to set up the sound amplifier and mixed it to make the output of the microphone voice better. After 3 hours, we were done with our task. But we still have some flowers and leaves. So I told them that I'd be coming back to use all of them for the carroza. The chapel president arrived and promised to give us a free meal for lunch. But I was in a hurry because I needed to fetch my wife and kids, who decided to have a half day of work to prepare for the fiesta celebration.

It's really tiring but a fulfilling task. We were glad that the officers and the people of Barangay Daantabogon appreciated our time, talent, and treasure that we shared in the community. Well, my back hurts so much because of it, but it's okay; at least I've shared what I have, and it made others feel happy and satisfied.

That's all for now, friends. Till next time.
