Last 2 Days for Brigada Eskwela

08.10.24

What's up? I'm dropping by again with some recent updates from my college life.

As the collaborative spirit of the students were enlivened during the peak of Brigada Eskwela, it made significant contribution to prevent Dengue Fever. Inline with this goal, the school requested the City Health Office beforehand for Pest Control, preferably smoking to repel mosquitos. As for the rest, it was up to us on how to apply more prevention to the Dengue outbreak.

For this week, there are only two days left for the students to finish all the cleaning and furnishing needed before the classes on Monday. Also, two buildings left untouched but it was a massive work since it covers half of the campus and it is where most of lush grasses are growing. On thursday morning, I've signified as a representative for Mental Health Alliance, Yuhom Literary Folio, and SDRRMU. I have joined 4 organizations this summer and their schedules for Brigada were all set at the same time and day. I thought that it could complicate things but all of the organizations were assigned to one area anyway. That eased all my worries at once.

Before the cleaning time starts that morning, the College of Education commenced a short program which encouraged everyone to warm up through a Zumba Dance led by their organization officers. After that, their Dean was given the spotlight to welcome the Freshmen, give some insights about the Brigada, and introduced the Professors present during the program. From there, the cleaning begins!

We were given with this grassy part of the school. There's nothing much to do at this area but pull the weeds aside from the Carabao Grass. On the other side, some students were tasked to beautify the Acacia trees by showcasing their talents on creating beautiful landscapes using the ornamental plants they brought, pebbles, and recycled 1.5-liter bottles of Coke as its fences.

The cleaning part was an easy task but beautifying some parts of the school took time. They have to continue the next day at the closing of Brigada Eskwela. This time I was with the members of Circle K International and overseeing my juniors at SDRRMU. We got different area of designation this time. It was the same grassy part but didn't need much grooming. We swept the dried leaves and plastic wrappers, then joined the other party at our area from the previous day.

The grasses were growing abundantly on the opposite side. The students struggled from cutting those tall bushes but we've managed to clean that part and make it tidy before noon. However, the landscaping continued since every group were competitive. They wanted to show their best to the Dean when the afternoon inspection comes. By the way, I had more fun conversing than cleaning. I always love leading enjoyable conversations with my co-members to create closeness and to know them more. In the end, seeing the surroundings neat and clean makes all that week worth of effort more worthwhile. Now, that everything is in place, surely, we're all ready to face the classes starting this Monday.

That's all from me, folks. Thanks for reading!
