My Rough Time Finding an Ice Cream

Hello friends, Hivians and my fellow ice cream lovers. So on Sunday it was a hot busy day for me. I started the day by mowing grass first thing in the morning. Than after that I thought it would be a great idea to clean out my garage. It was interesting experience cleaning out the garage but that will be shared in a future article.

I was in the heat for a majority of the day and I began thinking about some rocky road ice cream in the freezer. Once I finished with all these tasks I took a cold shower. Afterwards I left to get dinner and brought it back home.

It was about two hours later I made the walk to the kitchen. I grabbed a dish, a spoon and an ice cream scoop. I than opened the freezer door and grabbed the container of ice cream. I noticed right away the container was awfully light. I was not surprised when I opened it to find no ice cream in it. Three days ago it was left nearly full when I last had some.

Upon noticing this huge disappointment I immediately yelled called out a certain teenager's name. You see when I bought this ice cream he mentioned that he doesn't really care for rocky road ice cream. So I thought this would be protected and safe in the freezer. Thoughts of having a friendship with my bud Rocky were gone!

Well it's Monday and I'll attempt to get my ice cream fix during my lunch hour. I decided on Dairy Queen. I figured a burger, fries and a blizzard will do perfectly. I get there, get out of my car and notice a sign on the door. The sign says no food and only vanilla ice cream available. Alright strike one.

Just a short distance away is a favorite Filipino restaurant of mine. They have ice cream listed on their menu so I thought of trying some. They have Halo Halo as well but I just wanted to know more about what the ice cream was about. I was thinking of ordering some lumpia than wash it all down with whatever type of ice cream they had. I pull up and see the closed sign up on the window with another sign on the door. I didn't bother reading the door sign, the closed sign told me what I needed to know.

The third time is a charm right? My next choice was a place called Dairy Twist. A Mom and Pap place that offers a grilled & fried foods and a decent selection of ice cream. I thought of trying their famous pork tenderloin sandwich paired up with a chocolate milkshake. I pull up to the restaurant to see a guy unsuccessfully pulling on the the entrance door. I asked him why they were closed and he told me that they are closed on Monday. Strike three and no the third time is not always a charm.

With nearly half of my lunch hour wasted I needed to choose a place that would surely be open. I ended up going with the golden arches of McDonalds.

For something to eat I went with their $5 meal deal. It includes a small fry, a mcdouble, 4 piece mcnugget and a small drink. I probably ate just over half the burger, about 3/4 of the fries and 3 nuggets. I felt myself getting full while at the same time not really enjoying the food all that much.

Well my choice was made quickly for the ice cream selection. The advertisement on the kiosk looks good right? It's McDonald's so I don't expect to be wowed by the atmosphere. However I did like seeing the decorations of the cut out burgers and ice cream cones.

Here we are an empty container and three strikes later. Certainly no where near the looks of the advertisement picture. I paid $4.39 for this Kit Kat Banana Split Mcflurry. I much felt like I got ripped off. As far as quantity it appears a lot is missing from the middle where the mixer would have been.

I'll admit I liked the taste the first few bites. It had a lot of the components in it. It tasted somewhat like a banana split. Unfortunately after that it was just ice cream and Kit Kat. It was like all the other things were just on the top. I have been a fan of McDonald's ice cream but this one just didn't do it for me. Now was it because it was a limited edition? Sometimes there's a reason why it's a limited edition. Maybe because it's not good enough to be a regular.

There's many more ice creams out there so I'll redeem myself soon. Hopefully I will get what I want on the first try, hehe. I'll probably be back at Dairy Queen again perhaps at a different location.

What can we do for the Ice Cream Creations theme of the month? Let's go with an experience of pairing food with a delicious ice cream. It can be at home or even a restaurant that is a fast food joint. Let's hear them!

Take care, stay cool and eat some ice cream 🍦 🍨 One last thing, I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream. Until next time!
