I've been really interested in makeup lately and one of the styles I came across was douyin makeup. Douyin makeup is a Chinese makeup style that is very unique once you see it on the internet (and for sure you have already since it is pretty popular right now). It has a doll-like style that focuses on glittery eyes, wispy eyelashes, and heavy nose contouring.
One of the Chinese brands I came across was Judydoll. The brand is a popular one in China and I would say for a good reason.
One of their products is this Play Color all-in-one palette. You can use all the colors as an eyeshadow, blush, and highlighter (and maybe even contour if your skin tone suits it). The thing that really caught my attention is how the eyeshadow of the brand is not as saturated as Western brands you see.
I've been looking for a really good "everyday" eyeshadow and I have been struggling to find that in Western brands. They're always so bold, dark, and saturated which makes sense cos glam looks are very popular there. So a lot of them would look "too much" on my face, like bruh I just want to go to the mall with makeup but not looking like I'm ready for a pageant. XD
It was then I thought of course, Asian brands love that style of look and it makes sense that I would find one that suits the style I was aiming for lol since makeup style in Asia is more into muted colors.
I just really didn't look first in Asian brands since they tend to be lighter and suit more of an East Asian skin tone which I don't have...
Anyway, this palette is nice but as you can see in the swatches (right pic) that some are a bit lighter against my skin tone which challenges me to find a way to make that work. I'm still learning makeup so any lighter eyeshadow makes me kind of nervous since I still want the eyeshadow to show up on my skin haha.
The formula glides easily and the glitters in highlight are so freaking good. Something you would expect from a Chinese brand. :D
Another one I chose was this palette with a peachy-pink color. It looked pretty neutral on the product photo and I didn't expect it to look this warm in person. It still looks really good though.
I've also been struggling with looking for a good contour powder for my skin tone since my undertone is olive which makes it really tricky for me. A lot of brands don't have shades for that skin tone yet and a lot of them would either look orange or grey on me.
Apparently a lot of Asian are olive haha so of course they would have something that I've been struggling to look for. Contour should be more of a cool color against your skin because shadow (which is what we're mimicking) is cool-toned and Asian brands (Chinese and Korean) are more into muted + cool-leaning contour tones
Their highlight and contour palette has recently became popular and I would say this is probably one of the most popular products of the brand. They have 3 sets that you could choose depending on your skin type. I have a warm olive skin tone so I chose the warm version.
It looks a bit more warm the first time I looked at it although it was just okay when I wore it. Maybe it would be better to have a cooler toned shade but I haven't experimented on that yet. With choosing a contour shade, you have to be careful that you also won't look grey because that could happen. :P
I really like it though. The formula is also very easy to blend which is very important especially for contouring.
Their blush is so tiny and for me it makes sense cos blushes are usually really hard to finish. I bought it for $4.20 on their official Shopee but on their global website it's $9.99 but I guess it makes sense considering we are closer to China lol.
The blushes are quite light on me especially the #44 which is a cool pink but this would look really good on a lighter skin tone. As usual, the formula is good and almost creamy even but you just have to find the right shade for your skin.
Of course, what's a good Chinese brand without their eyeliners? Asian brands from what I've noticed usually have a very thin eyeliner tips which are really really good cos it gives you more control. They like a very subtle and natural-looking eyeliners and sometimes they use the liners to draw eyelashes and brows even, that's how thin it is.
I really love their liquid and slim gel eyeliner especially they have it in brown shades which is often hard to find in Western brands. The creamy gel eyeliner is also top notch quality, and I use it so often to do aegyosal and other highlights that need precision.
Lastly, this brand is known to have a really good glitters in their products. I got this liquid eyeshadow (which I couldn't find in their website anymore) and it is really packed with glitters. I find that it sets quickly so you gotta be careful where to put it. It's very obvious though, and if you're a glitter fan then you will love this.

This brand is so worth it imo and is very underrated atm. Although it would be a bit more expensive if you're ordering from EU or the US, but for Asian and Southeast Asian consumers, this is one of the really good and affordable products in the market.
