Hello friends, today is #tbt Thursday!. My memory of today comes in music video format, and recently I was able to acquire the complete concert of this event that took place two years ago, and the choral arrangement that you can appreciate in this video is Exsultate, Jubilate! by Karl Jenkins and since I met her in 2022 is one of the works that I listen to the most, and I really like it. Since we read it I felt the power of its harmony and the strength of its phrases, and I remember that I learned it in one day.
¡Hola amigos, hoy es Jueves de #tbt!. Mi recuerdo de hoy viene en formato de video musical, y hace poco pude adquirir el concierto completo de este evento que se realizó hace dos años, y el arreglo coral que pueden apreciar en este video es Exsultate, Jubilate! de Karl Jenkins y desde que la conocí en 2022 es una de las obras que más escucho, y es que realmente me gusta. Desde que la leímos sentí el poder de su armonía y la fuerza de sus frases, y recuerdo que me la aprendí en un solo día.
The day of the concert was used to start the event. It is a bit complex to be the first work, especially for the concentration and tuning that we tenors must maintain to not collapse the entire choir, but I see this video and hear that everything went well, although our faces were terrified 🤣 and is that for more concerts we have there is always something of nerves with the first work to be interpreted, the uncertainty of the sound in the room, the reaction of the public and in this opportunity, being led by a guest conductor with whom we had never worked.
El día del concierto se utilizó para iniciar el evento. Es un poco compleja para ser la primera obra, especialmente por la concentración y la afinación que debemos mantener los tenores para no derrumbar a la coral completa, pero veo este video y escucho que todo salió bien, aunque nuestras caras eran de terror 🤣 y es que por más conciertos que tenemos siempre hay algo de nervios con la primera obra que se interpreta, la incertidumbre del sonido en la sala, la reacción del público y en esa oportunidad, ser dirigidos por un director invitado con el que nunca habíamos trabajado.
I have already commented a little about this concert with Maestro Ricardo Portillo in previous posts, at that time my dad was in bed and recovering from his surgeries, so it was a time of mixed feelings for me, especially when we sang Exsultate, Jubilate! It was probably the choral arrangement I enjoyed the most that day, the rest of the concert I had to hold myself together to keep from collapsing, plus I rehearsed very little. Ya he comentado un poco de este concierto con el Maestro Ricardo Portillo en posts anteriores, en esa época mi papá estaba en cama y recuperándose de sus cirugías, así que fueron momentos de sentimientos encontrados para mí, especialmente cuando cantamos Exsultate, Jubilate!. Posiblemente fue el arreglo coral que más disfruté ese día, el resto del concierto tuve que mantenerme firme para no derrumbarme, además de que ensayé poco. Espero les guste nuestra versión de este clásico de la música académica y muchas gracias por acompañarme en este #tbt 🙏
