Hello everyone, happy week. Today I come to be part of this initiative proposed by @acont in the community of Humanitas, whose topic has fallen like a glove to me since I am currently living abroad and almost a year after leaving my native country (Venezuela) I think I have been able to develop a good criterion on the migration process.
A little bit of my story...
In previous publications I have already talked about my migratory process but I think that for the purposes of this initiative it is necessary to talk a little bit about my experience to get into context.
I moved to Spain in August 2022; I was received by a friend (also Venezuelan) in the city of Vigo, which is part of the community of Galicia and by the second day in the country I started to process my legal process. Spain has the particularity that it is divided into 17 autonomous communities and because of this, the legal immigration process is practically different in each community; that is, there are cities where it is faster to receive the NIE (Número de Identificación de Extranjería) and therefore, the work permit would be much faster. I was not that lucky
My process in Spain is for political asylum, and in the city of Vigo they assigned me my asylum interview for 6 months after my first appointment (there are places where you have to go through 2 appointments to receive the NIE, while in others they give it to you on the first appointment) and on top of that, once you have the ID number you have to wait 6 more months for the work permit to be activated. So if we add all that up, it would give a total of about 1 year. Now, imagine the level of stress that an immigrant must go through under these conditions; because although it is true that in all countries of the world there is black labor (illegal) in Spain is not very easy to say, the fines to employers are too large to take that risk.
Obviously there are other ways to legalize in Spain, either by work visa, study, roots.... But each process has its different conditions and/or requirements that not all of us have the possibility of fulfilling, being the political asylum one of the most processed by Venezuelans.
Personal perspective on migration:
Now that I take a panoramic view of my migration experience and looking at things in retrospect the first thing that comes to my mind is fear, that was the first emotion I felt. I remember that I reached a point where I questioned absolutely everything, even the way I should communicate in a simple supermarket, since being a new country and a new culture I knew that they would have another way of calling many products and food and the truth is that I was worried that they would not understand me. Another stress for me was the time to get on the buses, the system was different and here everything is by card, although of course, you can always use cash but even that was confusing for me, the currency exchange. And why do I mention these details that seem to be so insignificant? I do it to give you an idea of what the fear of the unknown can do, when suddenly there is such a big fear of not belonging and feeling somehow maladjusted, that even the simplest things can generate stress.
Reasons for acceptance or rejection of migration:
Fortunately I consider that Spain is very receptive to immigrants, at least from my experience I could feel it, and I make special mention to the Galicians that was the community that received me with open arms, I must say that I have been lucky to meet very kind people and willing to give you a helping hand; perhaps their main reason is out of gratitude because every time I meet some Galicians always tell me that they or their relatives emigrated to Venezuela when circumstances were different.
Of course every country has its good people and its bad people, there are people who still do not give themselves the opportunity to open up to new cultures and even more when they are the ones who come to their territory. I have come across some (very few) but the truth is that I never take it personally, in a way I consider that it speaks more about them than about me, so I don't let it generate too much importance. And it is there where I realize that, compared to my beginning, today I have learned not only to adapt to this new culture, but I have also learned to accept myself and be proud of my roots.
Vision of an ideal migration management:
Finally I would like to leave my contribution of what would be for me a more humane environment for migrants. Thank God, in most countries of the world (unfortunately not in all of them -still-) human rights have been implemented and are taken seriously; beyond race, culture and personal tastes, each life is important and we all have or should have the same rights, at least as far as quality of life is concerned. However, sometimes the reality is different and not only because even today there are people who have taken their nationalism to the extreme and this has made them act in a xenophobic way but on the other hand, a country that has not found the right way to handle the amount of immigrants arriving every year makes this become a big problem. We begin to see more and more people (generally immigrants) in street situations and then the need is so great that scams and criminal acts are born.
Of course I do not criticize the way each country does things because, in fact, I do not even have a great knowledge about this type of management, which must not be easy. But if I were asked for an opinion, I think it would be: focus on implementing strategies that accelerate the legalization process in those countries, thus avoiding the excessive accumulation of immigrants in irregular situation and, in this way, the other associated and derived problems would also be regulated.
As I said before, I am not an expert on the subject and I know that there are many factors to consider but it is evident that there are management problems in terms of migration and the idea is to find solutions.

Hoy vengo a formar parte de esta iniciativa propuesta por @acont en la comunidad de Humanitas, cuyo tema me ha caído como anillo al dedo ya que actualmente me encuentro viviendo en el extranjero y ya a casi un año de haberme ido de mi país natal (Venezuela) creo que he podido desarrollar un buen criterio sobre lo referente al proceso migratorio.
Un poco de mi historia...
En publicaciones anteriores ya he hablado sobre mi proceso migratorio pero creo que para efectos de esta iniciativa hace falta volver a hablar un poquito de mi experiencia para entrar en contexto.
Me mude a España en Agosto del 2022; fui recibida por un amigo (también venezolano) en la ciudad de Vigo, la cual forma parte de la comunidad de Galicia y ya para el segundo día en el país empecé a tramitar mi proceso legal. España tiene la particularidad de que esta dividida en 17 comunidades autónomas y debido a esto, el proceso legal migratorio es prácticamente diferente en cada comunidad; es decir, hay ciudades donde es más rápido recibir el NIE (Número de Identificación de Extranjería) y por ende, el permiso de trabajo sería mucho más rápido. Yo no tuve esa suerte
Mi proceso en España es por asilo político, y en la ciudad de Vigo me asignaron mi entrevista de asilo para 6 meses después de mi primera cita (hay lugares donde tienes que pasar por 2 citas para recibir el NIE, mientras que en otros te lo otorgan en la primera cita) y encima de todo, una vez que tienes el número de identificación debes esperar 6 meses más para que se te active el permiso de trabajo. Así que si sumamos todo eso, daría un total de 1 año aproximadamente. Ahora, imagínense en nivel de estrés por el cual debe pasar un inmigrante bajo esas condiciones; porque si bien es cierto que en todos los países del mundo existe el trabajo en negro (ilegal) en España no es muy fácil que digamos, las multas a los empleadores son demasiado grandes para correr ese riesgo.
Obviamente existen otras maneras de legalizarse en España, bien sea por visa de trabajo, estudio, arraigo... Pero cada proceso tiene sus diferentes condiciones y/o requisitos que no todos tenemos la posibilidad de cumplir, siendo el asilo político uno de los más tramitados por los venezolanos.
Perspectiva personal sobre la migración:
Ahora que hago una vista panorámica de mi experiencia migratoria y viendo las cosas en retrospectiva lo primero que llega a mi mente es miedo, esa fue la primera emoción que sentí. Recuerdo que llegue a un punto en que me cuestionaba de absolutamente todo, hasta de la forma en la que debería de comunicarme en un simple supermercado, ya que al ser un país y una cultura nueva sabía que tendrían otra forma de llamar a muchos productos y alimentos y la verdad es que me preocupaba que no me entendieran. Otro estrés para mí fue el momento de montarme en los buses, el sistema era diferente y aquí todo es por tarjeta, aunque por supuesto, siempre puedes usar el dinero en efectivo pero es que hasta eso era confuso para mí, el cambio de moneda. Y ¿Por qué menciono estos detalles que parecen ser tan insignificantes? lo hago para que tengan una idea de lo que el miedo a lo desconocido puede hacer, cuando de repente nace en ti un temor tan grande a no pertenecer y sentirte de cierta forma inadaptada, que hasta las cosas más simples pueden generarte estrés.
Motivos de aceptación o rechazo de la migración:
Afortunadamente considero que España es muy receptiva con los inmigrantes, al menos desde mi experiencia pude sentirlo así, y hago mención especial a los gallegos que fue la comunidad que me recibió con los brazos abiertos, debo decir que he tenido la suerte de conocer a personas muy amables y dispuestas a brindarte una mano amiga; quizás su motivo principal es por agradecimiento ya que cada vez que conozco a algunos gallegos siempre me dicen que ellos o sus familiares emigraron a Venezuela cuando las circunstancias eran diferentes.
Por supuesto que cada país tiene su gente buena y su gente mala, hay personas que todavía no se dan la oportunidad de abrirse a nuevas culturas y más cuando son éstas las que llegan a su territorio. Me he topado con algunas (muy pocas) pero la verdad nunca me lo tomo personal, de cierta forma considero que eso habla más de ellos que de mí, así que no dejo que eso me genere demasiada importancia. Y es allí donde me doy cuenta de que, comparado a mi comienzo, hoy en día he aprendido no sólo a adaptarme a esta nueva cultura, sino que también he sabido aceptarme y estar orgullosa de mis raíces.
Visión de una gestión ideal de la migración:
Por último me gustaría dejar mi aporte de lo que sería para mí un entorno más humano para los migrantes. Gracias a Dios, en la mayoría de los países del mundo (lamentablemente no en todos -aún-) se ha implementado y se toma en serio eso de los derechos humanos; más allá de la raza, cultura y gustos personales, cada vida es importante y todos tenemos o deberíamos tener los mismos derechos, al menos en lo que a calidad de vida se refiere. Sin embargo, a veces la realidad es otra y no sólo porque todavía hoy en día hay personas que han llevado su nacionalismo al extremo y esto los ha hecho a actuar de forma xenofobica sino que por otro lado, un país que no ha encontrado la forma adecuada de manejar la cantidad de inmigrantes que llega cada año hace que esto se vuelva un gran problema. Comienzan a verse cada vez más personas (generalmente inmigrantes) en situación de calle y luego la necesidad es tan grande que nacen las estafas y actos delictivos.
Por supuesto que no crítico la forma que tiene cada país de hacer sus cosas porque, en realidad, ni siquiera tengo un gran conocimiento sobre este tipo de gestiones, la cual no debe ser nada fácil. Pero si me pidieran una opinión, creo que sería: enfocarse en implementar estrategias que aceleren el proceso de legalización en dichos países, evitando así la acumulación excesiva de inmigrantes en situación irregular y de esta manera, se regularían también los otros problemas asociados y derivados del mismo.
Como dije anteriormente, no soy experta en el tema y se que hay muchos factores a considerar pero es evidente que existen problemas de gestión en lo que a migración se refiere y la idea es encontrar soluciones.
