Karthika Purnima: The festival of fifteenth lunar day of Kartik

Karthika (November) Is a month in Odia Calendar. And Karthika Purnima is a festival of boats. People get up really early in the morning (4 AM). Bathe themselves and set out to worship our gods. This also marks the end of Chaturmas, a four-month period when Vishnu is believed to sleep. It is believed that Vishnu, on this day, returns to his abode after completing his stay in Bali. Hence, the day is also known as Deva-Diwali. But.. On our end I actually slept on the alarm. And so I woke up at 6:30. I went to exercise for about an hour and returned. Finished all of my work, Took a shower, Prayed to god and set out to the Temple with my grandmother. We set out let but we got to worship Siba (God). We also saw people set out boats in our swimming pool as there were no lakes near us, On this festival many people believe setting out boats with deeps in them will bring us prosperity. We on the other hand did not have a chance to do it as we woke up late. Here are some pictures I took with my grandmother and sister.

We also got Bhog (Food offered to god), it was Kanika (Mild sweet flavoured rice) It was very well made. After having some of that we had breakfast. For breakfast we had Upma and sambar. And that's how I spent my morning on Karthika Purnima.
