Great mural, The Great Dirty Animals, done some years ago by Cemz aka Benny Wilding and Alex Scaner on the alley near to ArtGang, Street Art gallery on Boulevard Saint Laurent. Perfect place to start exploring the Grafitti Alley with a cool Tribute to Alex Scaner done last year during Mural Festival (more about it on Street Art #213).
Speaking of the Mural Festival, still no news on the artists invited this year on this special edition which will take place all summer and not just 2 weeks to avoid large gatherings.

I couldn't take the whole mural because the alley is quite narrow. I really need to invest in a wide angle lens...

WHO
Benny Wilding aka Cemz
Benny Wilding discovered street art during a trip to New York at the age of 12 in the mid-90s. He was impressed by the spray-painted walls all over the city. He returned to Montreal to devote himself to street art. He started in 1997 as Cemz in writing. In 2004, he started to use Ether for his writing. Often, his style combines pop-art & cartoons with a great writing of his name, true contrast between them.
Some months ago, I did a post about his fake signs done on the stores closed for a long time (Street Art #232), here a new one on Boulevard Saint Laurent near to Parc Portugal :
On right huge mural done by Waxhead and Cryote.

Based in Montreal's Notre-Dame-de-Grâce neighborhood, Alexandre Veilleux aka Alex Scaner was a street artist since the late 90's. He used different techniques : collage, rolls, aerosols or pens for his complex and colorful works. Considered one of the leaders in the street art movement in Montreal, his trademark "His inimitable" was one of the most recognizable in the city :

Sadly, he passed away the 9 September 2017 following a long battle against cancer (liposarcoma). Today, Production CanDo keep his memory alive.
"The city was his canvas..."
(source post on LaPresse.ca, great post about his battle against his illness and his incredible desire to paint at all costs, only in French)
