The tourism industry is suffering badly in Thailand and that much of this story was and remains tragic. However, if you are already in the country and have the means to travel via your own transport this turns into amazing deals for you. Places that would previously be well beyond my financial means and just places that I would dream of being able to stay in or perhaps admire from afar.

This is the Hua Hin Hilton, and I decided to come down here to visit a friend who lives nearby. Since I work online for the most part at the moment it is easy for me to get down to this part of the country.
This hotel, normally goes for 13,000 to 15,000 Baht per night (around $300 - $400) but because there are so few domestic tourists and zero international tourists the standard seaview rooms were on sale for 1500 Baht (around $40.) This is still quite a bit more than I would normally spend on a room because I am what you might consider a bit of a cheap charlie, but this level of luxury is something that I don't mind paying to experience from time to time.
Hua Hin as a whole has never really impressed me as far as Thai beaches are concerned because during this time of year it lacks the aquamarine water that tropical countries are so well-known for but in my case, me and my pal are just hanging out at the hotel and enjoying things that would normally be beyond our price range.
I'm not one for taking envy-inducing photos of one's feet somewhere exotic but allow me to gloat for just a bit, ok?
If you are one of the people that is "trapped" in your country due to Covid, it might not be a terrible idea to have a look around and see if there are similar massive specials going on. We may as well take advantage of this situation as much as we can!
