The teachings of Bro Eli Soriano, on the doctrines of Christ is really a helpful subject that prunes us as christians to be more fruitful to God. We know that the Bible warns us about being fruitless.
John 15:2 (KJV) Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
This means that if we are not fruitful, we stand the risk of being cut off. But then being fruitful depends on what kind of ground our hearts represent. Bro Eli Soriano, in his teaching explained to us the four types of hearts our Lord Jesus highlighted in parable of the sower.
The seed is the Word of God and our hearts represent the various types of hearts.
Matthew 13:3-8 (KJV) And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;
And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:
And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:
But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
Bro Eli Soriano taught us that the first kind of heart is the wayside heart. This heart represent those who have not prepared their hearts to receive the Word of God. Their hearts are not ploughed, they are not prepared. They are easily exposed to the deception of the devil. So, the devil comes in as the birds and steal the Word from their hearts.
Another type of heart is the stony heart. This heart has little soil. It's rocky. When the word falls on it, it show little signs of growth but when trials and temptations set in, the word dies. Such persons receives the Word of God with joy at the beginning but they can't withstand in the times of trials and temptations. They deny the word of God they received at slightest onset of trials and temptations.
Pastor Eli Soriano also mentioned to us the third kind of heart which is the thorny heart. This type of heart is full of thorns. These thorns choke the seed and kill it. The thorns here are the cares of this world. These include desire for material things, aspiration for fame, lustfulness and the likes. They choke the word of God in that heart and kill it.
Praise God! Finally, there is a good soil. This good soil has been well ploughed and cultivated. It has enough soil to support the plant. It's free of thorns and weeds. Then when the seed is planted in it, it brings forth in multiple folds.
Now, we have listened to the teaching from Bro Eli, who has expounded to us the truth from the doctrines of Jesus. Have we prepared our hearts to be like the forth ground? So that we will bear fruit in multiple folds for God. May God help us.
