Hello guys, good afternoon to y'all, today the 26th of April, 2021, this is my response to the question above.
Matt 17:1-5kjv: "And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,
And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.
And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.
Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him".
From the scripture above, it shows that Matthew was not with Jesus but might have been opportune to heard about the event.
1john 1:3 kjv: ""That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ".
It is important to note that hearing or seeing is not enough ground for writing. The question now is Why did Matthew write about it?
Luke 1:3kjv: " It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus".
His writing about the event that occurred which he did not witness but might have heard about, was based on a "perfect understanding" that he got about the information that was heard. And it is of no doubt that the " perfect understanding", was giving by the inspiration of God.
2 Tim 3:16kjv: "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness".
So therefore the " understanding" gotten from what he heard which enable him write about an event that he did not witness was based on the "inspiration" given to him by God.
