Greetings to all community members, how are you? If I am honest, this was not the first manga that came to my mind to participate in this contest about manga or mahwa since I have always commented that Shijō Saikyō no Deshi Kenichi is inside my heart as a favorite, but I have already talked about this excellent manga in a previous opportunity, so I decided to give Eyeshield 21 the chance to be featured. I remember that I found this story thanks to the Jetix TV channel that transmitted the anime in my country, what it proposed was enough to call my attention to the point of looking for the manga, since it is well known that these have a greater breadth in relation to the development of the stories and characters.
Yes, I know we have to talk about the manga itself, but I'm going to leave you with a video to give you an idea of what I saw in my childhood to catch my attention, using the first opening. The sports theme is not one of my favorites even though I like sports, but I fell madly in love with the main character, Sena Kobayakawa, because unlike many others he is an ordinary high school student without the characteristics of a leader as anyone would expect, but he does fall a bit into the cliché of being abused due to his kind and quiet personality which makes him an easy target, because of this he finds himself under the protection of, Mamori Anezaki, his childhood friend whom he has come to consider as a sister because of all the time shared together as well as her tendency to want to protect him from the world.
What makes this character special besides being the protagonist of the manga? He's very fast! Much of this ability comes from that need to escape from bullies who want to take advantage of his cowardice to make themselves respected, a description that Yōichi Hiruma falls perfectly into. Look, he's not a nice person, he forces poor Sena to join the high school soccer team, the Deimon Devil Bats, after he sees him running because he has potential, he doesn't mind manipulating everyone just to get what he wants, but he is a character that brings a lot of humor because of that way of being, the way Yusuke Murata draws him is how the writer Riichiro Inagaki presents him, a demon, becoming gloomy, strange and funny by using terrible methods to coerce others like attacking them with a machine gun.
Sena's identity is concealed, posing as Eyeshield 21 who is an already established player within the world of American soccer in this universe. In a way, the anonymity provided by using another name and hiding his face with a visor is going to be an important detail for Sena to take confidence about his ability on the field, however, it is as if they are two completely different people, so he will continue to have self-esteem issues, generating internal struggles about who he is and embarking on a path of self-discovery. Moreover, having been dragged against his will into this situation will help him make friends not only with his teammates who will be like family, but with his rivals whom he will admire and respect.
The truth is that the drawing is one of the aspects that I love the most, although in the beginning of the manga is not as remarkable as it usually happens, the evaluation of the drawing is notorious with the passage of the chapters, especially in the scenes where there is action, it achieves its mission to impact the reader and keep him attentive to what happens through what is shown, something impressive if we take into consideration that when watching a football game in real life it is obvious that it will not be so, even with special skills in certain players that are reflected. I'm not going to lie to you either, I now like the drawing style they use in the manhwas better, maybe because it's all in color, but that doesn't mean that this has lost its special place in my heart.
The development of the characters is one of its strong points because both the main character and the secondary characters receive attention, they are not left aside, each of them is deepened, they grow as the story progresses and become better people as they go through different circumstances. Here, in spite of being a manga that revolves around American soccer, the sport is transcended, and is placed in the background to give way to friendship, growth, commitment, responsibility, self-improvement, rivalry, self-love... after finishing reading it after such a long time I felt as if I had lost something valuable, having seen Sena grow into someone sure of himself was a feeling that left me crying for a couple of days.

Saludos a todos los miembros de la comunidad, ¿cómo están? Si les soy honesta, este no fue el primer manga que se me vino a la mente para participar en este concurso sobre manga o mahwa ya que siempre he comentado que Shijō Saikyō no Deshi Kenichi se encuentra dentro de mi corazón como favorito, pero ya he hablado sobre este excelente manga en una oportunidad anterior, por lo cual decidí darle la oportunidad a Eyeshield 21 de ser destacado. Recuerdo que me encontré esta historia gracias al canal de televisión Jetix que transmitía el anime en mi país, lo que proponía fue suficiente como para llamarme la atención hasta el punto de buscar el manga, puesto que es bien sabido que estos tienen una mayor amplitud en relación al desarrollo de las historias y personajes.
Sí, sé que hay que hablar propiamente del manga, pero les voy a dejar un video para que se hagan una idea de lo que vi en mi infancia para que me llamara la atención, usando el primer opening. La temática de deportes no es de mis favoritas a pesar de que me gustan los deportes, pero me enamoré perdidamente del protagonista, Sena Kobayakawa, pues a diferencia de muchos otros es un estudiante de preparatoria común sin características de líder como cualquier esperaría, pero sí entra un poco dentro del cliché de ser abusado debido a su personalidad amable y tranquila que lo convierte en un blanco fácil, por esto se encuentra bajo la protección de, Mamori Anezaki, su amiga de la infancia a la que ha llegado a considerar como una hermana por todo el tiempo compartido juntos así como su tendencia a querer protegerlo del mundo.
¿Qué es lo que hace a este personaje especial además de ser el protagonista del manga? ¡Es muy veloz! Gran parte de esta habilidad proviene de esa necesidad de escapar de los abusadores que quieren aprovecharse de su cobardía para hacerse respetar, descripción en la que entra perfectamente Yōichi Hiruma. Miren, no es una buena persona, obliga al pobre Sena a unirse al equipo de fútbol americano del instituto, los Deimon Devil Bats, después de que lo ve corriendo porque tiene potencial, no le importa manipular a todos con tal de obtener lo que quiere, pero es un personaje que aporta mucho humor por esa forma de ser, la forma en la que lo dibuja Yusuke Murata es como lo presenta el escritor Riichiro Inagaki, un demonio, volviéndose sombrío, extraño y divertido al usar métodos terribles para coaccionar a los demás como atacarlos con una ametralladora.
La identidad de Sena es ocultada, haciéndose pasar por Eyeshield 21 que es un jugador ya establecido dentro del mundo del fútbol americano en este universo. De cierta forma, el anonimato que le proporciona usar otro nombre y esconder su rostro con un visor va a ser un detalle importante para que Sena tome confianza sobre su habilidad en el campo de juego, sin embargo, es como si fuesen dos personas completamente diferentes, por lo que seguirá teniendo problemas de autoestima, generándose luchas internas sobre quién es y embarcándose en un camino de autodescubrimiento. Además, haber sido arrastrado en contra de su voluntad hacia esta situación lo ayudará a hacer amigos no solamente en relación a sus compañeros de equipo que serán como una familia, sino con sus rivales a los cuales admirará y respetará.
La verdad es que el dibujo es una de los aspectos que más me encantan, pese a que en el comienzo del manga no sea tan destacable como suele suceder, la evaluación del dibujo resulta notoria con el paso de los capítulos, sobre todo en las escenas donde hay acción, consigue su cometido de impactar al lector y conseguir mantenerlo atento a lo que pasa a través de lo que se muestra, algo impresionante si tenemos en consideración que al ver un partido de futbol americano en la vida real pues es obvio que no será así, incluso con habilidades especiales en determinados jugadores que son reflejadas. Tampoco les voy a mentir, a mí ahora me gusta más el estilo de dibujo que usan en los manhwas, quizá por ser todo a color, pero eso no quiere decir que esto haya perdido su lugar especial dentro de mi corazón.
El desarrollo de los personajes es uno de sus puntos fuertes porque tanto el protagonista, como los personajes secundarios reciben atención, no se los deja de lado, se profundiza en cada uno de ellos, van creciendo a medido de que va avanzando la historia y se hacen mejores personas a medido de que van atravesando diferentes circunstancias. Aquí pese a tratarse de un manga que gira alrededor del fútbol americano, se trasciende el deporte, llegando este a colocarse en un segundo plano para darle paso a la amistad, crecimiento, compromiso, responsabilidad, superación, rivalidad, amor propio… después de terminar de leerlo pasado tanto tiempo me sentí como si hubiese perdido algo valioso, haber visto a Sena crecer hasta convertirse en alguien seguro de sí mismo fue una sensación que me dejó llorando un par de días.
