The Design Concept of Rest Area in Malang, East Java

Halo everyone...

When traveling a long distance, rest areas are one of the most important parts of the trip. In this rest area, travelers can do important things such as eating, prayer, and going to bathroom number 1 or 2, while the driver can rest.

When traveling to Malang for 12 hours some time ago, the bus we were on stopped at a rest area that collaborated with the bus. Here we had to exchange the meal vouchers that we got when buying sleeper bus tickets. This was my first experience stopping at this rest area, which is very typical of the local culture.

  • Indoor

The interesting thing about this dining room is the arrangement of its furniture. They arranged this room by choosing tables and chairs that have the same color, which is dark brown. As I mentioned before, brown is a color that is identical to Javanese culture because it has its own philosophy for Javanese people. The brown color in this rest area is a color to distinguish categories of passenger groups. Meanwhile, this room is a room for premium passengers.

The tables and chairs available in this room remind us of a dining table in a large family home. It is classified as a luxurious dining table, perhaps adjusted because the passenger category is premium. In the next room, is a room for general passengers, which has a different furniture character from this room which has semi-sofa chairs and tables made of a combination of wood and marble.

This dining room has a large area with a buffet concept so that each passenger is free to take their food at the table provided. However, there are several provisions that must be adhered to for this buffet, namely that each passenger can only choose one of several side dishes provided. Ha ha, I hate it when I have to remember when they reprimanded me with language that made it seem like I was taking advantage by taking two side dishes, namely meat and eggs. They didn't tell me before.

  • Outdoor

For outdoor dining, the only difference is the choice of furniture. Then, passengers are free to choose their menu as long as they can afford it. I think this dining place is more comfortable because no staff who will scold you when you take more than one dish, hahaha…

  • Prayer Place

I was amazed at this corner, it was a place of worship that had a unique concept. It was an open room where the men's and women's areas were only separated by a cupboard and Javanese polished wood. They also provided a lot of complete prayer equipment. But unfortunately, to enter this room you have to pay.

Overall, this rest area has a common concept and architecture. What makes it different is only the choice of furniture because some rest areas do not have furniture as proper as this.

Hi, Halo, Annyeong! Welcome to my galaxy.

I have so much imagination in my head. Something that I can't achieve as a human and as a girl. So writing is very challenging. Since Junior High School, I have written whatever I want to write. Without skill, I just write what I want to read. Now I have 12th published novels and all of them are romance.
Yeah, I proudly say that I am a passionate author, traveler wannabe, and blogger.
