Baiturrahman Mosque, East Langsa, Aceh

It is no wonder that Aceh is said to be the City of a Thousand Mosques because of the many mosques there and I only saw a few Catholic churches in this city. The majority of the population is Muslim and only 10 percent are of other religions. It is different from the North Sumatra region, which is my province, where the majority of the population is Christian. Even so, the number of places of worship among several religions in my city is still the same as the number of mosque buildings, unlike when we were in Aceh Province. So it is no wonder that I can see many different mosque designs in Langsa City, so in the future I will show some mosque designs in this city.

And now I found Baiturahman Langsa Mosque, a mosque that I first found at the Border Gate between Tamiang City and Langsa City and I stopped here initially because I was interested in a resting place that was deliberately built for newcomers while driving. A simple Joglo with a few carvings on top and made of painted wood and then given steps so that animals cannot climb up and the floor is also made of wood covered with tarpaulin and kept clean and anyone can rest here not only Muslims and don't worry Aceh is a city that is very tolerant of other religions the most important thing is that we wear polite clothes

The turquoise blue mosque surrounded by small carvings and lists decorating the reliefs on the green exterior walls is a combination that is a little off in color but I think it can still be seen. Then there are large pillars which have 2 shapes, namely a combed square shape which is then flanked by round pillars which at the bottom resemble a jug which has a classic gold color with a few carvings on the bottom of the pillar which are worth looking at. give appreciation so that the outside of this mosque looks like it has volume. And in front of the mosque there is also an extension to install canopies for parked vehicles so they don't overheat. And nearby I also saw small ditches to facilitate drainage from the bathroom or rainwater so that it doesn't get clogged and these ditches were covered with iron railings so that our feet wouldn't get stuck there.

Meanwhile, on the outside of the dome, there is not just one dome but more than 3 of different sizes, which are colored dark brown and around them are carvings in yellow, making the colors of this building contrast as a whole and when I saw the dome during this scorching heat, I felt like eating the dome because I remembered the chocolate in my refrigerator.

Inside the mosque I did not find a Ceiling made of PVC like other mosques but here the ceiling is made of cement that is permanently cast and as you can see then on the dome arch is given a sky blue color so that it gives a high impression there. Around the dome there are also carvings that are green and the symbol is the symbol of the Aceh door which is an iconic symbol of the city of Aceh itself. Then inside the mosque there are also small pillars that are also golden in color but have a different shape at the bottom. And there are several pillars not just one. And the floor of this mosque uses ceramics that are calm cream in color to neutralize the color with the color of the mosque which is already striking.

Then on the inside of the window I saw a little luxury because the windows that look very simple from the outside turned out that when from the inside the windows were decorated with Spanish-style pillars that were half embedded. And all of that applies to every window and door of the mosque which gives a luxurious impression there.

In conclusion, although this mosque has clashing colors, it still has a harmonious and interrelated side, giving a luxurious impression, but the presence of many pillars in the mosque I think actually gives the impression that this mosque looks much narrower. However, it all comes back to the needs and designs that the organizers of this mosque want to achieve. Greetings from Tomi diwirja, Indonesia
