14th of August is the day when Pakistan gained Independence from British rule and became a separate nation. It’s the birthday of Pakistan and we all Pakistanis celebrate this birthday with full passion and enthusiasm. Students have their events at school and institutes whereas companies arrange the events and organize parties on their last working day as our company did which I shared in one of my posts. No matter whatever is happening in the country, public needs a reason to celebrate and enjoy with their families and friends to get rid of the stress and tensions. It is the best cure to distract a person from those big problems even it lasts only for a day.
Since childhood, I have seen an amazing interest of my parents in celebrating this day. I am the part of a patriotic family. My Father used to hoist the flag on top of the house, it was used to be a big one, real big one, honestly, not a normal person can afford that flag at the moment. Those were the good times. My Mother used to prepare special food and deserts, helping us to decorate our house with other stuffs. My parents are still the same and still have the same passion for this day. I am too lazy to do all that stuff now. My Father once again hoisted the flag on the rooftop, also put the light on top of it. Pumped balloons and decorated with some lights.
Every year, we do celebrate this day with same passion and trying to put the same passion for the country in our kids. It is very important to make them understand the true meaning of freedom and how to capitalize on that with brake shoe on it. It all starts with very young age because what we do with them now, leads them till the end. We want our kids to carry forward the same enthusiasm and passion for the country and value what we have gained.
It was a perfect day, once again overcast weather. Sun is hiding behind the clouds for almost more than a week now. Me and my bro bought some cool stuff for our kids for this special day. My kiddo was too excited to wear those white and green clothing. Since morning, he was insisting his mother to get him ready for the flag visit at rooftop. After breakfast, we all got ready.
We had a photo session of our kids with their grandparents. It is better to celebrate this day at home as it is too much crowded outside for any place to visit and none of like crowded places so, we are cool with celebrating at home.
Kids really liked their outfits and other stuffs like caps, wrist bands and glasses. Our princess had Mehdi designed on her hands, it was looking amazing. Her Mother designed Pakistani flag on her hands. Kids were busy posing for the photos that we later share with our elder bro.
We all went on the rooftop, saluting the flag, waving the flags and enjoying our time together. These are memorable moments.
My bro was scaring our princess as she was scared of seeing the waving flag. He was trying to make her comfortable that it is not something to get scare of and he successfully made her smile with his heroic acts lol.
Our princess received a gift from one of his Uncle, she was looking too much excited and happy to wear these gifted cloths.
We had our lunch together. It is very popular and common simple meal in Pakistan. Daal Chawal means lentils with Rice, accompanied with Salad and fried green peppers. It was delicious and having lunch with family other than Sunday is extra special.
For dinner, we had something special. It was Nihari, another famous and popular dish of Pakistan. I bought some sheermal, taftan and kulcha for this special meal. These are different kinds of bread having different taste, I liked Kulcha the most. It was a nice day with my family and we enjoyed it all together and had lots of fun.
