Sizzling Steak, Shopping, and Stunning Sunset

Walk.Food.Nature...

I've been staying home for quite a while now, and I thought it was the reason why I got sick recently, which I mentioned in my previous post. I'm not used to staying at home for a long time since I was in college and after school, so my body is also adjusting to my current lifestyle. I decided to travel to the city to have a walk, withdraw some cash, and buy some things needed at home. Walking is another solution I do when I feel weary and groggy. I feel better when my body is active and not stagnant, especially after I sweat.

After over a month, I saw this scenic view and traveled through the sea again. This place is where the pier is located, where I cross to the city via a small ferry. It only takes us more or less twenty minutes when I travel on the water compared to the land. There is a beach resort in this area, too, that I plan to visit one of these days. The water here is clearer compared to other beaches nearby.

I accompanied my two sisters because they had to visit the PSA office to get my mother's latest CENOMAR, and I had to do something else. I did what I was supposed to do and then waited for my sisters to finish the task I gave them. While my sisters were running an errand, I went to the supermarket to purchase some items, as I didn't want to sit around. I bought some supplies and toiletries because our pantry is already running out of supplies. My sisters later arrived at the supermarket while I was shopping.

After that, we decided to have lunch at Sizzling Steak, located adjacent to the supermarket. I didn't want to leave the mall to find another place to eat because we had a lot of stuff to carry, which would have been a pain. I decided to try it because it was new to me. Since there weren't many people, I chose it to avoid long lines. We were also pretty hungry. As soon as we stepped inside, more people joined us. I also chose it because you can eat as much rice as you want, and the soup is free. Filipinos clearly love to eat a lot of rice.

Taking pictures while we waited for our food, I really liked the brown theme color of the restaurant's interior design.

We did not order the restaurant's signature food, hence its name. I don't think I saw Sizzling steak on the menu, or I probably missed it. We got fried chicken, spicy pork sisig, and liempo, which is deep-fried pork belly. I was really disappointed by the small servings, especially the liempo. It's too different from the photo on the menu. I was expecting crunchy, big slices of liempo, but we were served two thin slices of liempo, which seemed to be bathing in tomato sauce. At least they tasted good, but we're uncontented with the serving sizes, given that it offers unlimited rice.

I should say it's a place that isn't worth returning to, lol. To make our food more appetizing, I requested bowls of soup, and we were served a bit sour and spicy fish sinigang (Filipino sour fish soup). I liked it, and it helped me finish my rice.

We left our shopping bags at the supermarket's deposit booth after lunch, so we could easily walk outside to the wet market, where we still needed to buy things. The market is close to the mall, which is another reason I chose the mall, even though there are more supermarkets in the city. There are a lot of street food vendors on the way to the market, but I forgot to take pictures of them. If you like street food, you probably will stop by and buy some. We saw dirty ice cream, but I hoped it wasn't dirty. We bought three cones for dessert after lunch. It was delicious and had an avocado flavor. They were something we ate on our way to the market.

There are also barbecue stands. At night, this tent is crowded with people who enjoy grilling on the street. I remember walking by this place one night, and it was full of people drinking liquor, too. Barbecue is definitely a perfect pulutan (accompaniment) to alcoholic drinks. Karaoke would have made the place more fun, so they should have added it :-).

When it comes to buying fresh vegetables and fruits, I prefer the city market to our town market, because it lacks fresh goods, which is something I always complain about when I want to eat certain vegetables. I wish I could turn our small farm into a vegetable farm to supply missing vegetables to our market. But the land there isn't suitable for planting vegetables. My late father tried already, but he failed.

We bought some fruits, vegetables, condiments, and spices for daily cooking at home. I thought I took more photos at the market, but I saw only a few when I checked my phone, lol.

We went back home at sunset, and the view from the boat was even more stunning with the orangish silhouettes in the sky.

The golden hour was so peaceful and relaxing. A time to relax and be reunited with the family back home again. I wish I could stare at it for a longer time. But then again, dusk will come eventually. It was a great walk, and I felt even better. As of today, my cold and cough is already gone. I guess I just need more walks 😊.

Thanks for your time.
