Blessed week friends of Hive!, it is a pleasure for me again to chat and share with you through this medium. I begin narrating every detail of what was experienced during this first stage of internship, I must emphasize that everything you get to know in a hospital or you get to read or hear from someone, is merely the opinion of whoever expresses the subject. Therefore, if you are also part of the health profession or are starting to be in it, keep in mind that everything can be different in terms of experiences. Paediatrics, however, is a branch of medicine that specializes in the health and care of children from birth to adolescence proper. During this period, pediatricians focus on the overall well-being of children, including treating diseases, monitoring physical growth, and mental and psychological development. However, during the study or control of each of these patients, they will be classified into different age groups according to their characteristics, age and development according to these characteristics. The first or most important thing to provide good care to these patients is to have commitment. Many times some medical students in training, residents and in some cases, the pediatricians themselves get to make it difficult to care for children and adolescents, since they must therefore be accompanied by their legal representative, and require attention and treatment for these too (in some cases it can become complicated depending on the personality that they have during the anamnesis).Of course! Depending on the stage your child is at, your doctor will adjust your relationship. For example, with newborns and infants, communication is primarily through parents and child review.
Here is a close doctor-patient relationship for all the time they spend together, the trust they place in you and the love you can get from them despite the illness they are going through. Whether they are newborns, infants, preschoolers, schoolchildren, teenagers; they deserve the same respect, affection and attention, where only the strategies and modalities of physical examination to be performed or practiced will be different (according to my perception as an undergraduate intern).
In this clinic, it is possible to recognize a multidisciplinary environment, since pediatricians, general practitioners, residents, nutritionists, psychologists, social welfare workers, nurses, family participation and others involved in the hospital environment are involved. Where communication must be assertive but very rigorous, where the emotional impact of the minor is preserved.
My stay in pediatrics was certainly a very unusual experience, such rotation is not my favorite; but it caused a dilemma in me, for without a doubt I enjoyed every moment and the teachings that all the residents and assistants gave me, every suggestion, indication, sometimes scolding and jokes, laughter and sadness of seeing our young patients go through a certain difficult situation, made an agglomeration of emotions that would be inexplicable to tell. But really the deal was a 100/10, for my first hospital rotation it set the bar very high for the coming ones. Although I intend to live my life to the fullest and learn as much as I can to be a great doctor.
I learned to hydrate, expand, I attended my first time in the operating room with the help of pediatric surgery (although I have snuck first into one of Neurosurgery xD) pediatric doses of medications and their adverse effects. I sutured only once from a neurosurgeon's hand, but I need to practice more and hone those skills. But, bottom line; You who are reading this, dare to give more of yourself, to know what you may consider not to combine with your personality, to vary your ideas and open yourself to any challenge. Don't stop taking your little one to the doctor, take good care of him, treat him well and love him more every day, they are a world and even a potential universe that they can enjoy much more than you think.
And if you think that pediatrics is a delicate area, well, yes, you're right! But there are doctors, and there are quasi-doctors who will treat your baby with a lot of love <3.
I will read their opinions in detail. Soon I'll tell you how I'm doing on my second rotation... Gynecology and Obstetrics! I send you a big hug.
