This is my review of an old Dance-Pop song | it is called "Believe" by "Cher"

This time I came back with an old pop song from Cher, This song is called "Believe" It's from her 22nd album, The song was released as the lead single from the album on October 19, 1998. Cher started working with a team for this project, it's music produced by Mark Taylor and written by Brian Rawling. written by Brian Higgins, Paul Barry, Stuart McLennen,Timothy Powell, Matthew Gray, Steven Torch.

This is an old photoshoot of Cher:

Though Cher was also a Pop Rock musician but for this song she is singing an upbeat dance-pop genre. In that time this Auto Tune software was something new which they used it for Cher's Vocals though it is only used in some parts of this song and you can hear her voice power. The Autotune Effect in this song became known as the Cher Effect.
The lyrics of this song is about Love and it is about a painful breakup and it describes the empowerment and self-sufficiency after it.

Lyrics:

"Believe"

After love, after love [repeat]

No matter how hard I try
You keep pushing me aside
And I can't break through
There's no talking to you

It's so sad that you're leaving
It takes time to believe it
But after all is said and done
You're gonna be the lonely one
Oh, oh

Do you believe in life after love?
I can feel something inside me say,
"I really don't think you're strong enough, no."
Do you believe in life after love?
I can feel something inside me say,
"I really don't think you're strong enough, no."

What am I supposed to do?
Sit around and wait for you?
Well, I can't do that
There's no turning back

I need time to move on
I need love to feel strong
'Cause I've had time to think it through
And maybe I'm too good for you
Oh, oh

Do you believe in life after love?
I can feel something inside me say,
"I really don't think you're strong enough, no."
Do you believe in life after love?
I can feel something inside me say,
"I really don't think you're strong enough, no."

Well, I know that I'll get through this
'Cause I know that I am strong
I don't need you anymore
Oh, I don't need you anymore
I don't need you anymore
No, I don't need you anymore

Do you believe in life after love?
I can feel something inside me say,
"I really don't think you're strong enough, no."
Do you believe in life after love?
I can feel something inside me say,
"I really don't think you're strong enough, no."

The song starts with a distorted FX like a crash with long sustain and we can also hear the sound of synths which it performs as a pad and changes the chords, after that there is a a deep bass sound and percussion sound panned to the left and then the drums snare and hats starts after a reversed crash and a synth which performs an arpeggio which rises up while one of the words of chorus vocals keeps rising too with a delay. it is disco drums in there and the bass line performs a techno riff, in 0:44 it is a synth rhyhme which it also has a kind of percussion sound after the first verse, it goes to the chorus, the chorus part is really interesting, Cher choses the most beautiful melodies for that part. in the chorus part we can also hear a lead guitar sound which it used as an answer to the vocals, right after that it gets back to the second verse which it ends with a nice choral sound and it goes to the 2nd chorus and this time we can hear some back vocals added in this chorus, this time the chorus goes to a bridge part, it is a creative part with those Electronic Elements and the way Cher performs those vocals is really amazing adding some blues notes in her way of singing, the chorus drops to the ending part which it is still chorus but without drums and we can hear synth and bass and the effects which used as delay and reverb on her vocals which are used creatively, then it starts to get back up with a nice drums and at the end the song finishes with the last chorus which I feel that the vocals became closer in that part. I hope you enjoyed listening to that song and you liked my review of the song :)
