I know, I know. Game development is hard.

Particles

The goal for today was to add particles to the game. As I am using PixiJS the logical choice is to use @pixi/particle-emitter. Had some troubles getting it up and running as there had been a new major release since I last used it. It turned out that the issue was that the example code for the new release that was slightly outdated and contained an invalid configuration. This caused the emitter to be there code wise and update its values, but no where to actually be seen. Thankfully there were plenty of live examples and by testing with the config from one of those I found the issue.

After solving this, wrapping it up into an easy to use class was a trouble-free process. The end result is good for the future, but it was perhaps not such a good idea to spend almost the whole day making it when you only have a few days to jam!

I did get to do a first draft of particles for the kids that you are meant to rescue. Let's look at some lovely gifs.
