AN ACQUIRED EXPERTISE EVOLVED INTO A BOON
I always encourage people to have, learn and acquire a skill for themselves because I believe this is what would mould an individual to who they opt to be in the future! If you're good at graphic designs, baking cakes or making fast foods, cooking, fashion designing, or you're into tech like web designs and etcetera, I believe these are not just mere jobs but a skillful one and when you're good in one ore more of these aspects then you can be a better and outstanding version of it in the future if you keep it consistent!.
Well as for me, I've always been had series of skills I desired to acquire, while some seemed to be quite difficult, others came in handy but of all the skills I've learnt so far, i can only boost about one of them and that is being a disk jokey.
I've written quite a bit on this m in the past but I'll still give it a little more insight here once again. It all started many years ago when I developed the zeal and a driven passion towards musical instruments where I became a drummer in church and in that process, i began to lay hands on some other instruments like the guitar and keyboards even though i wasn't even perfect, I just loved the spirit comfort it brings and so!
when i arrived into the university, I met a friend of mine who was already a DJ and I saw how much progress he made in the profession already which was so impressive and encouraging for me as a music lover and someone who is driven by the ethics of music.
He told me how good I am with music instruments and how it can help boost my career in the industry as a DJ. I didn't even think twice after getting this motivation from him so I asked, "where do we start?".
To be sincere, I had to learn a whole new version of the word "music" this time around by getting to know about artists, their songs, genres, beats, lyrics, instrumentals and vocals. This is when I understood that music was a course and field of study indeed. It wasn't easy in the beginning but with consistency, practice, hard work and applied knowledge, I began to set a good reputation for myself. But at a certain point I couldn't really tell if I was doing my skill the right way or not! People can only encourage you by saying, "you're good, you're a good DJ, you play well and all those words but I was left wandering to know if I'm really hitting the nail the way it should?".
The answer to this question came to me some years back around 2021 where I got called by a commissioner of one of the famous radio broadcasting company in my state, 88.7 TheMix FM. Where the commissioner told me that he liked one of my performances in an occasion at the famous Ibom Christmas village in akwaibom state Nigeria and he is inviting me over to the mix FM radio station.
This was the biggest height I could ever imagine and I never saw it coming. This is when I understood that oh yeah, I hit that nail on the head.
What did I learn from this?
No matter what you do, keep doing it consistently and regardless of what you're going through in as much as it's good, keep doing it! The end shall be massive as we all know that practice makes perfection.
Which ever skill you have and can do currently, make it your very best and this is how you reach an unexpected height.
