Welcome to my blog, last week we were given interesting and fun theme to write by the hive Ghana team. Another week is upon us and the team have yet again delivered us with more educative themes to write about. And I’m here to do justice to that. “what do you think about Hive/Web3 as the new revolution in social media landscape”?
Where do I even start, i don’t think it’s a matter of what I think rather than how factual this statement is. And to tell you what, I strongly agree that web3 or hive to be precise is the revolution of social media. Let’s look at the social media we have now. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and many more. These social media platforms are controlled and managed by one entity or a single body. What he or she says is what you do, failure to do so may result in certain punishments like temporarily blocking of your account or in some situations permanently. we become puppets dancing to their tune.
And we have web3/Hive blockchain where everyone is his own master. I control my account, hold the keys to my wallet no one else does. I choose to withdraw my savings whenever I want, I don’t need to get approval from anyone because it is decentralized, meaning it is not controlled or managed by a single body or company. But rather it is collectively run by the users.
Another justification that shows that hive is the new face of social media is that fact that when you upload a blog that meet certain standards in terms of quantity and quantity, you get rewarded in crypto which can be sold to your desired currency. I don’t think other social media platforms like Facebook pay us a dime for anything we put up there, Instagram I’m not so sure they do either and Twitter same. We create traffics on their website and we get nothing in return.
The main goal and vision behind Web3 is to give power to the people or the users. Or in other words you can simplify refer to this as decentralization. Breaking all the boundaries previous social media platforms have created and allowing the user now to be able to retain and mange his own data. Rather than storing and selling users data like we see Facebook do. Web3 breaks all these boundaries. And return the power to the people.
Web3 decentralized blockchain, provides the necessary stage or platform developers or aspiring developers like myself the opportunity to create and develop their own applications. These applications are able to run and are compatible with the blockchain. These are a few of the reasons why I believe web3 or hive is the revolution of social media. And the way the world is globally accepting cryptocurrencies and going digital this would just facilitate the whole process.
