Milla Jovovich
Born: December 17th, 1975, in Kyiv, Ukraine
Milla Jovovich. A Ukrainian-American actress, model, and musician known for her diverse talents and striking presence in the entertainment industry. With a career spanning multiple decades, she has definitely established herself as a versatile and dynamic performer.
She was born in Kyiv, Ukraine. Her family moved to London when she was a child before eventually settling in Los Angeles. Jovovich's multicultural background would later prove to contribute to her global appeal and ability to portray characters from various cultural backgrounds.
Milla was first discovered as a model at the age of 11, and quickly gained recognition for her striking looks and pose in front of the camera. Her modeling career paved the way for her transition to acting, and she made her film debut in the 1988 romantic thriller "Two Moon Junction."
However, her breakthrough happened with her role in the science fiction-horror film "The Fifth Element" (1997). With this she was catapulted to international stardom. Her portrayal of Leeloo, a genetically engineered being with incredible abilities (making it a quite demanding role), showcased her acting skills and appearance. The film's success showed her status as an action star which turned out to be what she would be most known for.

She further demonstrated her action-addiction in the role of Alice in the "Resident Evil" film series. Starting with "Resident Evil" in 2002, she became the face of the franchise, portraying the character through multiple sequels. Her performance garnered praise for its intensity and athleticism, and she became synonymous with the survival horror genre in cinema and I believe she was the reason it became so popular.
Apart from her action-oriented roles, Jovovich has also been in various other genres, showcasing her range as an actress. Among other genre movies you'll find titles such as
- "The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc" (1999)
- "Zoolander" (2001)
- "The Fourth Kind" (2009).
In addition to her acting career (before she became world famous), she is also a (fairly) talented musician. She released her debut album, "The Divine Comedy," in 1994, showcasing her vocal abilities and songwriting skills. While her music career did not reach the same heights as her acting, it highlighted her artistic versatility.
I believe most of us are happy that she didn't end up being a musician.
Her commitment to making a positive impact extends beyond the entertainment industry as she has supported various charitable causes, including organizations focused on human rights, animal welfare, and environmental issues
Milla Jovovich's personal life has also been marked by resilience and adaptability. She has navigated challenges and successes with a level-headed approach, emphasizing the importance of family and balance. Her marriage to filmmaker Paul W.S. Anderson, known for directing several of the "Resident Evil" films, has been a source of stability and collaboration in both personal and professional realms.
With her doppelganger daughter, Ever Anderson, I believe we're set for yet another few decades of this family being on-screen.
And I don't mind!
