Greetings, fellow sentient beings!
And good morning! What's with all those werewolves?
Dropping by to wish you another creative week and to share a small experiment and my own conclusions.
I've shared coffee works before. I've also tried working with watercolor on the thickest paper I could find, a 600 g, 100 % cotton, Hahnemuhle (if I am not mistaken) paper. The latter is the most expensive in stores around here. And it's quite nice for certain styles. I am not very good at those but I can see how it can go if I persist.
Anyway, this time around, I used leftovers from the paper. This is a small piece, about 10x6 cm.
My thoughts after the experiment...
I could have used plainer paper to a maybe better effect. I still see how this one can help if you like its fast-absorbing qualities. But in my case, they are a challenge. I need more coffee than usual. All right, I used pretty wet brushes. There's the initial spill and it's quickly soaked into the fabric after that.
And I need more patience. The quick spill that I planned did not work miracles.
Did I expect it to? Perhaps.
And another feeling was born...
I need to learn to sketch, starting all over. My previously improvisational incline is not enough in this environment. You are skilled artists here and if I am to try and communicate with you, especially in images, I need to up the level. No matter how long it takes. It is going to be a process.
I saw those 100 sketches challenge entries...
And I wonder if I will be able to level up within 100 sketches. At my current level, I believe this is bound to happen.
So...
Did I mention I needed more coffee?
(But...to actually drink. Sketches with pencil commencing...soonish.)
Yours,
Manol
